Year after year there is the dreaded conflict between my husband's family members & my family members: what time to have Thanksgiving Dinner?

What time does YOUR family celebrate Thanksgiving?

We start with the Antipasto about 1 p.m. . . .then Manicotti, then finally the Turkey with all the trimmings . . .(which usually isn't until about 3pm)

Growing up, we always ate at 2:00, and that's when my father still wants to eat. Sorry Dad, but when I host we are eating at 4:00, with appetizers leading up to the main meal.

On my mom's side of the family its always the weekend before Thanksgiving ( so all the family can be there, which I never understood because isn't Thanksgiving suppose to be a family thing anyway??? ) and we have a traditional turkey (yuck) dinner around 3p.m.

On DH's side ( which I have to say I like a lot better ) we actually have Thanksgiving ON Thanksgiving and we eat around 2p.m. MIL, knowing that DH and I and a couple of others aren't too fond of the traditional turkey dinner, will make something else to serve besides the turkey. There's usually a turkey, ham, and sometimes burgers, tacos, pasta...whatever. I like this kind of Thanksgiving better :)

And then we spend the rest of the day eating all the desserts everyone brought :)

Uusally oneish because of the travel time involved. IT's too hard having a late aft dinner when guests have a long drive back.

Herc.

Around 1. This year we're having Thanksgiving a day late though. Our Thanksgiving will be on the 29th.:)

Thanksgiving dinner will be at 2pm at Wright's Chicken Farm - hey it's poultry!
We're stopping for dinner on our way to the airport. Flying the next morn to FL to begin our MAGICal Eastern cruise vacation.
16 more days!!!

We usually have ours around 2:00.

But I'm not cooking this year. We just hosted an elegant sit-down dinner for 30 last weekend and I'm too pooped to even contemplate doing Thanksgiving this year.

We bring the kids to my parents around 10:45am. and DH & I go meet some friends at a local, upscale restaurant for drinks(opens at 11:00). This has been the tradition with my friends since even before we could legally drink. ;) We are usually back at my parents house by 1:00ish for munchies. Dinner usually starts around 3:00.

We sit down to the main meal at around 7 p.m. Have to give my DH time to get home from work and my brother and his family to come in from RI. Everyone else is here by 2 p.m. so there is a lot of noshing beforehand.

When the turkey gets does and everything else is reheated!;) :p

My side of the family has dinner around 2:00 and Ray's side likes to eat at 5:00.

Usually around noon or 1 p.m. My sisters are married and have to go to their in-laws later in the day.

About 3. We have hors d'oeuvres from about 1 until we sit down to the table.

We usually eat it around 5 or 6, but this year we're driving to Tifton, GA (about 3 hours from my house) and eating at the Cracker Barrel there (so my grandma can eat with her daughter as well as my family). That's going to seem kind of odd, but I love Cracker Barrel, so I'll be okay! :)
