We arrive mid afternoon Thanksgiving day and are looking for a place to have dinner, any one have any suggestions on restaurants that will be open?? Not looking for anything fancy....just something decent. We are a party of 7 (4 adults, 3 kids).

Thanks!!! :thumbsup2

where are you staying? are you looking for something at the resorts/city walk

or in the parks? we have eaten buffet at PB-Trattoria several times and it was

excellent. i know MammaDella's did a Thanksgiving meal also but we never tried

it.

we will be staying at Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham-Universal Orlando. So something close by or in the area would be appreciated it. Thanks!

anyone know of any restaurants that will be open? we will be arriving late afternoon so dont want to make ressies anywhere just in case.

If I remember right, all three onsite hotels had a Thanksgiving dinner. You do not need to be a hotel guest to eat at any of the hotels, but I highly suggest a res. because they can (and most likely will) fill up for Thanksgiving. You can keep an eye on the loews hotel website which should be posting a Thanksgiving menu soon (it should also be posted on the Universal website).

Also, some of the places on Citywalk have a Thanksgiving dinner as well, and again, they can fill up. Just keep an eye on Universal's website and the menu's should all be posted soon.

I did a quick google search and found some more information. It appears that full menus last year were posted around the 8th, however Universal did a press release with the dinning options (and a small menu) at Universal. Here they are:

Loews Portofino Bay Hotel – Trattoria del Porto
A champagne buffet will be served from 11:00 am - 8:00 pm on Thanksgiving Day, featuring smoked salmon, chilled seafood, omelets and crepes to order (11:00 am - 2:00 pm), risotto station (2:00 - 8:00 pm), sage-roasted turkey, New York strip of beef, sea scallops, pasta station, plus a signature pastry station. Entertainment will include strolling musicians, Universal Orlando characters, children’s craft table, face painter and balloon twister.
Adults: $54 (champagne included)
Children 12 & under: $24 (3 & under complimentary)

Loews Portofino Bay Hotel – Mama Della’s Ristorante
Mama Della’s Ristorante will serve a traditional Thanksgiving family-style menu from 5:30 - 10:00 pm, along with their regular a la carte menu of Italian favorites. Guests can dine on sage-roasted turkey with Italian bread stuffing, maple-roasted sweet potatoes, green bean casserole and seasonal tarts.
Adults: $38 (Thanksgiving menu)
Children 12 & under: $16 (3 & under complimentary)

Hard Rock Hotel – The Kitchen restaurant
A Thanksgiving Day buffet will be offered from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm and 5:00 - 10:00 pm, featuring a chilled shellfish bar, citrus-brined turkey, glazed ham, rosemary and thyme crusted ribeye, pan-roasted cod, baked ziti, plus traditional side dishes, salads, soup and desserts. Entertainment will feature Universal Orlando characters, magic man, face painter and a balloon artist.
Adults: $44
Children 12 & under: $17 (ages 3 & under complimentary)

Loews Royal Pacific Resort – Islands Dining Room
A champagne buffet will be served from 11:00 am - 8:00 pm on Thanksgiving Day, featuring a smoked seafood, iced raw bar, sushi, stir fry and omelet stations, rosemary and sage-roasted Carolina turkey, prime rib of beef, pan-seared black grouper, stuffed breast of pheasant, along with freshly baked breads, pastries, cakes and pies. Entertainment will feature Universal Orlando characters, face painter, balloon twister and hula dancers.
Adults: $48 (champagne included)
Children 12 & under: $24 (ages 3 & under complimentary)

If one of these sounds good to you, you can make a res. at the open table website. Enjoy :D

Most restaurants will be open and there are special meal buffets around town. Problem is...they are announced in the paper that week and most are pretty expensive. If you're going to have a car, you have more options.

We will have a car so we can pretty much go anywhere. our flight lands at 5 so dont want to commit to a reservation somewhere just in case.....
