Thanksgiving Crowds & Annual Passport Rates

Hi - We just returned from the Mouse House and I am already planning our next vacation at Disney. We turned in our parkhopper while we were there for annual passports. I have two questions and would appreciate any info that you all can give me. First of all, what are the crowds like at Thanksgiving. We are thinking of either arriving the Friday before Thanksgiving and then leaving the Friday after Thanksgiving or coming in on Thanksgiving Day and then staying until Friday of the following weeks. How are crowds at that time of year. Also, are there usually annual passport rates available at this time? Thanks in advance for your responses. Sherry

The weekend of Thanksgiving is very busy (Wed - Sun) usually by the Monday after the crowds really thin out to one of the lowest levels of the year. We have done this twice and really enjoy that time of year.

I do think you will find passholder rates for that time of the year.

We just returned from Disney during Thanksgiving week and although I thought the parks were crowded, utilizing fast pass and getting to the parks early made touring pretty manageable all things considered. Our longest wait was Thanksgiving evening for Big Thunder. The wait time was 75 minutes and we really wanted to ride it in the dark so we jumped in line and I was pleasantly surprised that according to my brand new Mickey watch we waited just 30 minutes for the ride! If something had a ridiculously long wait, like Pooh with a 75 minute wait time and no fast passes left for the day, then we moved on. We were able to meander down the walkway a bit and ride Snow White with a 15 minute wait.

I was happy with our T-day holiday crowd experience and would not hesitate to return at that time of year again. Happy planning!

We recently returned from a Thanksgiving stay at the World (11/28-12/9). We were braced for horrible crowds over Thanksgiving weekend, but we were surprised that this part of our stay is when we experienced the least crowd problems. We were at MK on Thanksgiving Day and didn't experience any waits of more than 10 minutes (mostly Fantasyland). Epcot the following day was just the same...walk-ons for everything we did. During the week after Thanksgiving it seemed like the crowds grew larger, but we utilized fastpass and coped rather well. It seemed like everyone had read that the week after Thanksgiving was uncrowded and decided to vacation at that time.

We arrived Thanksgiving Day this year and left the following Wednesday. Just plan accordingly. I listened to the advice here and it was great. AK early Friday, Epcot for a short while and dinner on Saturday. We kinda of kicked back and enjoyed the resorts until the crowds left. Started early on Sunday with MK. The week after Thanksgiving has very low crowds. Just be prepared for the possibility of cool weather. Some years yes...some years no. Also going that first week in December allows you to attend the Candlelight Processional and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. The Christmas Party was great. We attended on December 3 and had no lines at all. Went on Buzz over and over and over. And on Splash Mountain three times without getting off! Good for us, probably bad for Disney.

We also were there from 11-28 - 12-7. We also thought the crowds were not too bad at all....the longest we waited for anything was Peter Pan and it was about 40 mins. We also went to MVMCP on 12 -3 it was not sold out, I could tell we rode everything with no waiting....I am also considering returning next thanksgiving.
