We are looking at being in the Orlando area Thanksgiving week. Would like to hit US since it has been years.

What are the crowd levels like this week?

Peak capacity with two hour waits for Forbidden Journey. If you are going, stay onsite.

Not what I was hoping to see when I clicked this link. :headache:

DH and I have gone to Universal Tday week before Harry Potter came to town and the park was always lower on crowd levels before Thanksgiving and Friday through Sunday it was packed. Guess that is over now that Harry Potter is here. We're going back this year before Thanksgiving day I was thinking Tuesday, since my brother is coming to town. I hoped we would be skipping the major crowds. Wishful thinking..... at least we'll be onsite to cut down on wait times. :sad2:

We were at Universal this past Thanksgiving. We stayed onsite at RP from the Tuesday before Thanksgiving through Saturday. With our express pass and early entry, we thought the crowds were more than manageable. The longest wait we had was around 45 minutes for Forbidden Journey, but that was in the evening.

We took our time, did WWoHP in the morning and late evening and never once felt rushed or overcrowded. I would never do it without staying onsite though! :goodvibes

I was at IoA the Saturday after this past Thanksgiving. Went there almost as an afterthought for a couple of hours expecting horrendous crowds, but was very pleasantly surprised. We arrived about 1:00p or so and planned to do just a couple of our favorites and then move on for the day, but wound up spending the rest of the day there and did quite a bit more than we expected.

YMMV.

Usually our kids only get Thanksgiving and the day after off from school, but this year they will have the whole week off. I got so excited thinking that the Sunday to Tuesday of that week would be a slow time in the parks, but the more I look into crowd levels at Universal and WDW, the more concerned I am.

We went on July 4th one year and I swore NEVER AGAIN would I go when the parks are that crowded.

Sigh. I'm not sure if we should plan a trip for the first half of Thanksgiving week or not (planning on driving home the day before Thanksgiving).

Thanks this gives me hope that it won't be too bad. I figured have them come for Tday and do the parks before hand before it gets too crazy busy since this will be their first time. I want them to be able to enjoy the park and not have to wait too terribly long for FJ and to get a Butterbeer ect. :wizard:

I remember this past Xmas on the news they said the crowd level was so high people were turned away. I choose before Tday to avoid that mess. ;)
