Looking for some good advice from seasoned DVCers...

We'll be on the 3 day Wonder Sun-Wed morning of Thanksgiving week, 2010, having spent the previous week at WDW, Kidani Village. We were contemplating spending Wed/Thursday nights at Jambo- no parks- just to try out Jambo, before heading to Universal on Friday. But then I thought, why not try Vero, if we aren't doing parks those days? I think WDW will probably be too crowded for our taste those days.

So far we have only one DVC trip under out belt, Kidani last November. VGC is next month.

Anyone who has spent Thanksgiving at either resort, let me know what you think! We plan to cook a simple dinner in our villa, and relax and enjoy the resort, as well as any family/kid friendly activities there. Our kids will be 13 and 10. We'll be wanting a one bedroom villa.

I'm rather excited by a Thanksgiving spent just the four of us...:cool2: Planning is so fun!

Tips? Opinions?

It's a tough choice but I have always thought Thanksgiving at Vero would be wonderful. Of course my favorite fantasy includes a Beach Cottage but the one bedroom would be nice too. As long as you'll have other chances to try Jambo/AK, I'd lean toward Vero. Whatever you decide, it sounds like a fabulous trip! Enjoy!:goodvibes

I agree with MomB. I haven't done VB during Thanksgiving but I have always wanted to. The resort will have lots of activities as they always do. I would think since you have been at WDW/AKL the week before the cruise then Vero would be a nice, different option for after.

Have fun which ever one you choose!

As long as you do not expect sun and 80 degree temperatures at the beach, it may be more enjoyable than WDW crowds. I think cooler temperatures may feel more cool at the coast...

I've had a week before Thanksgiving at WDW where temps were high of 60's and lows in the mid-40's, just want to set proper expectations...

I think a Thanksgiving at VB would be wonderful. I'm partial to VWL, so that would be my first choice.

Silly Little Pixie - I'm so glad you asked! We, too, will be on the Wonder the Sun-Wed before Thanksgiving (but fly from the west coast on Saturday before the cruise). We've been planning to stay at VB, but I keep worrying that we'll regret not being near the parks, but also know they will be crazy busy.

Our DSs will be 13 and 10, also, and we were thinking of going to Universal one day for HP (assuming it's open by then, but it may be nuts there, too).

[The Princess Bride is one of my favorite movies.]

Maybe we'll see you there - I'm leaning towards a relatively quiet time at VB. Our first trip to VGC is less than 2 weeks away!

Cheers!

Preedymtnwest-

Come join our cruise meets thread! How cool that our kids are the same age! We're hoping HP is open by then as well. Crossing fingers!

Our VGC stay is from 2/11 to 2/13. Just two nights but I was glad to get them at the 7 month mark, considering it's a holiday weekend. I hope we love it as much as I think we will and it will be the first of many stays at VGC.

Anyone think it might be difficult to get VB for Wed/Thurs nights of Thanksgiving week? I don't know how large of a resort it is. What kind of activities are there usually offered at that time of year?

Vero is starting to sound very tempting!
