Hi all. I have learned so much reading here, so thank you for all the great information!:)
I finally decided to post because I have a potential dilemma on my hands. Sorry if this is too long, sometimes I ramble when I'm nervous.

Anyway, I have a trip planned for Thanksgiving week. We got a great rate with the fall pkg code. Even though we were past the 180 day mark, I was able to book my dining reservations for my family of 5. When our good friends (2A, 2C) heard of our trip, they thought it would be fun to come along. That's great except I am afraid they will not be able to eat at any TS restaurants. I will see what is available for the rest of the days and decide if we will split up or not, but my main concern right now is Thanksgiving. I called and asked for availability at any non-park restaurant for a party of 9. Not surprisingly hardly anything is available.

A 12n seating is available for Thanksgiving at the Fort. I looked up the information here and see that it is outdoors. Has anyone eaten here on Thanksgiving? How did you like it? We will have 5 boys with us ranging from 16 to 10. Do you think the show might be too hokey for them? Since there is a 48 hr cancellation policy, what happens if the weather is bad that day?

Thanks again for all the help.

First, welcome to the Dis!:welcome: Second, you may want to ask this question on the camping forum - the people there know all there is about the Fort.

Hope you find the info you need!

(BTW, we are schedule to be at the Fort for Thanksgiving too, although it looks like the trip may be cancelled due to circumstances beyond my control. :sad1: I'm keeping my fingers crossed...)

Thank you for the welcome and great suggestion!

I had to cancel a trip when hubbie switched jobs and it is disappointing. I hope things work out for you.

OP - Did you ever decide or get any opinions?

I made ressie's for 8 at 12 noon at the Fort just a few days ago. CM said there were only 20 spaces avail. before me (leaving 12).

I am worried about this too. It's a lot of money to be miserable - if there's crummy weather! I have been panicked about Thanksgiving dinner for weeks now. I just read on another older thread that the resort food courts served Turkey, mashed potatoes, etc on Thanksgiving for 10.99/adult and 6.99?/child in 2007. I've now decided that we'll check the weather forecast on the Monday night before, and if need be, we'll cancel and eat at the food court!! I feel much better now with a back-up plan!

Now, I just need to figure out what to do for the rest of the day.........

We went to WDW last year and had Thanksgiving ADR's and then our friends decided to go with us. Instead of stressing, I cancelled our ADR and we went to AK on Thanksgiving Day thinking less sit down restaurants would mean less crowds. We had counter service all day but made up for it the next day by having OUR Thanksgiving meal at LTT. We were a day off but we were in WDW so it didn't make a difference to us!

Hi. Our friends are still up in the air, so I didn't post this specific question on the camping board. They do have a lot of great information there though so you might want to take a look. Thanksgiving at the Fort sounds like fun so I hope you get to go.

It appears that there are a lot of activities on the grounds also. I'm not sure, but some might only be available to resort guests (family dodge ball!!!). The petting zoo is there and it might be fun to check out the holiday decorations at the sites and cabins.

If our friends come along we will probably take the advice above and have turkey at the food court - no need to stress!

Good Luck!
