Thanksgiving AP Rates

We are planning a WDW visit from 11/18 to 11/26/05. I am trying to decide if I should buy at least one AP pass. The difference between our 7 day ticket and an AP would be $183. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase an AP if I knew they were giving discounts for that week, the savings on our room at CBR would certainly pay-off with an AP. (Plus, there's always the excuse to make another trip during the year before the AP expires!)

Does anyone know if AP rates are being given during Thanksgiving week? Also, do I need an actual number from an AP or voucher to go on the Disney passholder site to see what a room rate would be? One last question, even though we have a room reserved with a confirmation number at CBR, would they apply AP rates, or would I need to make a new reservation and cancel the old?

Thanks for your help and the time to answer these questions. We haven't been in two years and it seems like there have been quite a few changes with AP's (which we have always held in the past).

There is rates but only through the best rate program. They may be gone, not avail for your entire stay, not avail at your resort and so on. Plus you would have to make a decision soon because once you hit the 120 day window or less then you can't book online.

You do need an actualy AP voucher in hand or an activated AP to log onto the site to find out what the rate is. Yes you would have to cancel your existing reservation and book a new one with a non-refundable deposit.

Right now the AP rate is 124-125 a night, so that would save you 192 dollars. So it would only save you $11 between the difference of the AP price, doesn't seem worth it.

Do you have AAA? With AAA you could be paying 127/night + tax for your room.

Thanks for your info. I agree, for an $11 difference it would be hardly worth it. Unfortunately we do not have AAA. Either way, we are still looking very foward to our visit!

Thanks again. :sunny:

You might want to check into getting AAA. You can save money at more places than Disney. I think a year membership would only cost about 60 bucks. It varies from state to state. Even if it did cost the 60 bucks, you would save 22 a night on your resort with the AAA rate x 8 nights = $176. So it would more than pay for itself whereas the AP wouldn't.

I am going to disney the same week the 19th to 26th. I have AAA and i am paying 983.00 for 7 nights room only.I believe it is 140.42/night. That is 20% off I think. It may be worth it for you to get a AAA membership. Good Luck!

AAA rates are 15% off values and moderates during regular season and 20% off during value season.

OOPS! I did an error in my math. I took the AP rate total and divided it by 7 nights, not 8 nights so that makes a difference.

The AP rate would be 109/night so a savings of 320 over the course of 8 nights than the rack rate. So with my newly learned math skills  LOL, it might be worth it to by the AP!
