On Friday, August 10, I spent the day all by myself (yay!) at Disneyland Resort, celebrating my 40th birthday. I had an absolute blast! I rode everything I wanted to ride, saw everything I wanted to see, ate everything I wanted to eat.
At the end of the day, right after the Electrical Parade, I rode Mullholland Madness. Walking away from the ride, I noticed that I'd lost the "fast pass" pouch that had been attached from my lanyard. Oh no! I had been somewhat foolish and cavalier, and had put not only my fast passes in that pouch, but also my 7-day park hopper, hotel key, and a gift card from a dear friend.
I felt a bit stricken, and approached the nearest CM to ask what to do. He was sweeping up after the parade, and dropped what he was doing to reassure me that the lost and found system works really well. He said that chances were, my pouch would be found. He directed me to the lost and found office, but in my befuddled state I forgot where it was!
I went to Guest Relations just inside the park gates, and asked what to do. The CM there was similarly reassuring, and reminded me where lost and found was, right outside the gates. I explained that if I went there, I couldn't get back in, as I'd lost my parkhopper. He cheerfully handed me a special pass for readmittance, so I could go to lost and found and still get back in (and also head over to Disneyland to finish up the day if I wanted to).
Finally at lost and found, a kind CM called the Mullholland Madness area, and let me know that my pouch had in fact been found. I thanked him and sprinted back, reassured but still anxious. And yes, in fact, the CMs at Mullholland Madness had my pouch, with all its contents intact.
This whole process took perhaps 15 minutes. Every CM was kind, reassuring, and helpful. What could have been a serious setback turned out to be nothing more than a slight inconvenence.
I wish I'd gotten the names of the CMs who helped me out, especially the kind gentleman I first approached as he was sweeping up after the parade. I wanted to thank them all, but I especially wanted to thank him.
You never know how a small bit of kindness might still be with someone many days, weeks later. Thank you, anonymous CMs!
