. . . I'm taking the PLUNGE!!! I will be a new DVC owner very soon!! I go down to WDW late May and I'm buying at SSR. I'm so excited I could BURST!!! I actually feel like calling NOW and buying rather than wait until I get down there! Won't be able to use it until 2006, but then it's MINE!!!

I do have a question though: Is it better to buy a few more points now than what you *think* you want (ex. 250 instead of 200) or is it better to wait and buy the 50 extra points later? Do they ever "run specials" on add on points?

I have myself, my DS9 and my mom to consider. We'd probably do WDW once per year (just go with me here--you know I'm kidding myself!!) in off season and then go somewhere else for a few days a year. From what I've seen, 200 points looks like it will work for now. Any suggestions?

First of all, Your Welcome.

Second, Welcome Home!

OK, you may want to think about buying a 150 point contract, then adding on a 120 point contract. DVC has a deal going on for Members Only who add on 120 SSR points, you get 100 one time bonus points and no maintenance fees until '06.

Hmmmm, ok, now I'm a bit confused. When I talked to the DVC lady for a very long time, she said their incentive right now was $8.00 off/pp. So, if I buy 150 at that rate and then ADD the 120, will I get BOTH deals? Do you know how long the deal you are talking about lasts? Is it a big deal to add points on (a lot of red tape?)

Yes, they run deals on add-ons pretty regularly, but they really vary. A few months ago they were giving annual passes with add-ons. (We closed on our add-on about 3 months before they came out with that one and I was totally livid!)

We started out with the 150 point contract.
The next year we added on 80 more when we realized how much we loved the 2 bedroom at OKW and needed 230 points a year to get it.
In 2004 we added on 280 more to have an even 500 which will get us that OKW 2 bedroom twice a year.
And we still can't catch up and get into current year points. All I do is borrow! The only trip we took where we didn't borrow was our first trip.

My last trip to WDW was February 26 - March 5 of this year. I had to book most of the trip with my 2005 points, and then as soon as March 1 came around, I called MS (from my OKW room) and borrowed enough 2006 points to get the final nights of my stay. Literally - we borrow as soon as they are available!!! (We have a March use year.)

Yes, I believe you will be able to do that. Just make sure the $8 off doesn't require you to give up your use of the points this year, unless you weren't planning on going this year anyway. We did that once and didn't realize how much we could have used those points.

That no no matter how many points you start out with, you will still
get the "add-on" fever at some point in your future. My advice: get the
larger amount of points now.....you will enjoy them sooo much, and then you can add on for even more fun later. :cool1:
