I hope u guys don't mind this.... (an older gal posting on your site), but I need some input from people my sons age.

He is gonna be 14 when we go to WDW area for the first time. What parks are your fav? Rides? I don't want to take him somewhere that he'll be thinking "I'm too old for this". He love roller coasters and other thrill rides!

Thanks for your help!

If he likes thrill rides, I would suggest:

Magic Kingdom:

Space Mountain for most thrill
Big Thunder Mountain for a fun coaster
Splash Mountain just for the last drop.

Epcot:

Test Track
Mission: Space
Soarin'

MGM:

Tower of Terror
Rock 'n Roller Coaster

Animal Kingdom:

Expedition Everest
Dinosaur

Those are the main/most-popular thrill rides in all four parks. There are SOOOO many other things to see and do, but if it's thrill he's looking for, those are the ones.

Good luck!

I'm 14 and I love Disney!! (But I'm a girl....but whatever, my cousin is a guy and he's 15 and he likes Disney!)

Here's some of my must does:

MGM
Tower of Terror
Rockin' Rollercoaster
Star Tours (Star Wars)

Magic Kingdom
Splash Mountain
Space Mountain
Big Thunder Mountain
Pirates of the Caribbean
The Haunted Mansion

Animal Kingdom
Expadition Everest
Kali River Rapids
Kilamanjaro Safari
Dinosaur
Primeval Whirl (If you can take spinning)

Epcot
Mission Space
Test Track
Soarin'
World Showcase

My favorite park is the Magic Kingdom :goodvibes

Tower of Terror
Rock'n Rollercoaster
Splash Mtn...Not to scary, but still fun! :thumbsup2
Space Mtn
Big thunder
EXPEDITION EVEREST ROCKS!!! (Especially if he's really into RC'S)

Water Parks?...
Slush'n Gusher
Shark Reef...You get to Swim with sharks!
There are so many more that i can't think of right now.

I am 14 and just got back from WDW. I was never bored, even on the kiddy rides, but that's just the girl i am :goodvibes

If he wants to, just have him PM me :cool1:

Hope this helps!

pretty much everything everyone said.

MGM?
Lights... Motors... ACTION! i didn't really like it that much, but my brother ADORED it. if he likes cars, or stunts.. or is a boyish boy well then. he'll adore it.

The Haunted Mansion? I thought that was probably the one of .. well. crappiest rides i was on. No offense to anyone who loves it, i know it's old... but it's cheesy & boring. the only part that i liked the the ghost thing at the end. other than that, it's horribly boring.

MUST SKIPS:
The Voyage Of The Little Mermaid (my dad fell asleep & was rudely awakened by water)
Country Bear Jambory (BORING and soooo annoying)
The Halls Of Presidents (boring, unless you like that kind of thing.)

DON'T MISS:
Spaceship Earth. if you're like my family & don't see stuff like the starscape thing often, you'll love it. even if it's deathly boring, it's a nice break from the sun & because it's a continous loader, there's little to no wait.

MGM.
Tower of terror
RNRC

Animal Kingdom.
Expedision Everest.
If he likes skateboarding see Tarzan the show

Epcot.
Mission Space.
Test Track.

MK.
Splash Mountain.
Space Mountain.
Big Thunder Mountain.

And of course the water parks.

Blizzard Beach.
One of the worlds biggest waterslides, goes up to 60mph.
and many other cool waterslides and water rides.

Typhoon Lagoon.
You get to swim with sharks.
Wave pool.
And more waterslides.

I would say go get a park hopper so If you go to one and he doesnt like it you can go to another with out wasting a ticket. Also, go to both waterparks.

Those are the basics that you can do. But you said that you were going to be there for his birthday or around his birthday. So you might want to do something special for him. I have been there many many times on my birthday and I am going this year for my 16th.
are you staying on site? if so what hotel are you staying in? my favorites are pop, French Quarter, and Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Somethings you can do for his birthday:
get a cake made and dilivered to any resturaunt
tell your waiter that it is his Birthday and get a free cake or cupcake
get a button for him at any costomer service and then the cast memebers give him special treatment
set up a fireworks cruise for illuminations and have cake on the boat
on my 13th or 12th birthday i went to 50's Prime Time for lunch(in MGM) and it was by far the best experience in a resturaunt I have ever had.

other things to do
Fire works- Magic Kingdom(Wishes)
-Epcot(illuminations)
-MGM(Fantasmic)I didnt really like fantasmic
Water parks
-Typhoon Lagoon(Before the park opens you can get surfing lessons I think it costs alot of money, But it is a LOT of fun)
-Blizzard Beach

My 2 favorite parks are Magic Kingdom and Epcot(I think he would really like Epcot there is alot of things to do there)
and my least favorite park is Animal Kingdom. It reminds me too much of a zoo and I feel like there isn't too much to do there, except Mt. Everest.

Hope I helped!
Have fun!

Thanks alot, Kristy! I hadn't thought about the extra stuff for his b-day! That sounds terrible i know but sooo much planning to do! We r doing the cruise as well!

Thanks again! :goodvibes

wow! that sounds fun! My mom is taking my best friend and I on the cruise and then Disney this summer for my Birthday. When are you going? Because also depending on the time of year, there are different celebrations and activities. Do you know what cruise you want to take? We are going on the wonder(the 3 or 4 night cruise)
on the ship there are special activities for teens, so you probably will be seperated for alot of the time on the cruise. But the cruises are so much fun.
When planning I recomend the Disney Passporter, It tells you alot of things and helps alot with planning. There is also a passporter for the cruise. I would also recomend getting the Disney planning DVD. It's one of my favorite DVD's I watch it whenever I am in a Disney mood.( I know I'm weird) Have fun planning!!(it really is fun and exciting im not going to lie. I planned almost my entire next trip.)

We are heading out in Jan on the 4 nite! I, too, love to watch the DVD from time to time :lmao: Funny, I thought I was the only one!

Have fun with your big birthday outing :cheer2:

Magic Kingdom is a great park, but for a 14 year-old I recommend MGM studios.

milkabum~ Thanks, I definately keep that in consideration!!! :thumbsup2

EeyoreFan1~ Thanks for checking to see if you can help! :goodvibes

I can't believe this will be my first time at WDW as well! I don't know what took me so long!

well most of the disney rides and parks are mentioned
are you going the universal
if your son love rollars costers the uniersal parks are the ones to go to

Hmmm... maybe a WDW park one day and universal the next? I'll have to check that out, DH is a roller coaster enthusiast just as much as DS!

Thanks! :thumbsup2
