Hi friends!

Just dropping in to say thanks for your ECV suggestions and tips for traveling with my 80 year old dad last week.

We had a great time. He enjoyed the scooter so much he wants one of his own now......:rotfl:

From other suggestions here on the DIS I contacted Apple Scooters ahead of time and rented one for the week for $150.

It was waiting at our resorts bell services when we got there.

I did not tell dad I was renting one because I was afraid he would back out on going with us. I picked it up and drove it up to the room. After a little bit on turtle speed he was used to it and before long scooting away at rabbit speed.

It was easy to take apart and loaded in our vans cargo area.

We did not have a handicap tag but at each park we we would tell the attendant that we had a scooter and they would direct us up to the handicap parking area or the row directly behind it. That way we could just walk/scoot from the car to the park. :goodvibes

Upon our return from the parks on our final evening (prior to our next days departure) I just dropped the scooter back at our resorts bell services so that Apple Scooters could pick it up early the next morning.

The scooter kept a full charge every day.....being in the park from open to close. We never had any problems.

If you have any questions just ask I'd be happy to help.

Glad that all went well! Sounds like it really made your Dad's trip enjoyable.

150 for the week is that 5 days or 7 days thaks

That was 7 days. It was waiting when we checked in on Friday May 28th and we dropped it off at bell services close to midnight Thursday June 3rd.....it wasn't due back until 8:00 AM Friday morning but I knew that we would just be getting up and getting ready to head for home. It worked out great for us and Apple Scooters were very enjoyable to work with.

For the service, promptness and easy scooters to take apart you get real value for $150/week.

We rented two scooters from them back in Dec. 2009. We even had our scooters a day early. They didn't pick it up from the previous customer. We ended up going a day early; so, we had a little pixie dust our way with the scooters.

Did you have the pride to go scooter or the slightly bigger one called Victory?

We had the smaller version/4 wheeler (Go-Go Elite). Dad has always been kind of leary of them and thought the 4 wheel version would seem more sturdy to him. He did well manuevering it in the crowds etc. considering he'd never been on one before.

If a person needs more leg room, I suggest the three wheeled version. They are very sturdy and without the 4th wheel in front it gives you room on either side of the tiller to stretch your legs out. This is the version I have and I have not found an issue yet where I have almost tipped it over, and I have put mine threw some rough situations.
