Hi friends!
Just dropping in to say thanks for your ECV suggestions and tips for traveling with my 80 year old dad last week.
We had a great time. He enjoyed the scooter so much he wants one of his own now......
From other suggestions here on the DIS I contacted Apple Scooters ahead of time and rented one for the week for $150.
It was waiting at our resorts bell services when we got there.
I did not tell dad I was renting one because I was afraid he would back out on going with us. I picked it up and drove it up to the room. After a little bit on turtle speed he was used to it and before long scooting away at rabbit speed.
It was easy to take apart and loaded in our vans cargo area.
We did not have a handicap tag but at each park we we would tell the attendant that we had a scooter and they would direct us up to the handicap parking area or the row directly behind it. That way we could just walk/scoot from the car to the park.
Upon our return from the parks on our final evening (prior to our next days departure) I just dropped the scooter back at our resorts bell services so that Apple Scooters could pick it up early the next morning.
The scooter kept a full charge every day.....being in the park from open to close. We never had any problems.
If you have any questions just ask I'd be happy to help.
