Thanks-for keeping me going through the year!

You know; I don't usually write sappy, semi rambling posts, but I could not help myself this morning after catching up on the past few weeks podcasts this weekend, and on my way to work this morning.

My family and I just came back from a marvelous 2 week stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. It was a perfect vacation. Great weather, good times , and a lot of fantastic family memories were made. (Not to mention nearly 1500 photos taken)!

As the post Disney vacation blues began to set in hard, I realized, when listening to the podcasts, what a tremendous service this site, and the podcasts, due for us hardcore "wish I could live at Disney World" folks. Coming back to work, even after two weeks away, is very depressing. Granted, my job is what allows my family to visit WDW, but still, you get the idea. Well, after catching up a bit with what I missed on the site, and again, the podcasts, I realized that in some ways, it really does keep me in touch with a place myself, and my family, love more than anything, all year long. (Even if we are 1100+ miles away for most of the year).

Thanks guys, all of you, for making this the best Disney related site on the web, and for allowing us a true look into your personalities, and senses of humor, each and every week through the podcasts.

Keep up the good work, and know, that there are those of us out here, who this place really does help keep going through the daily grind of life and work.

I remember those post-Disney-vacation-blues very well....they were a big prt of the reason that we moved to Orlando.

Steve - I'm on these boards quite often for some of the same reasons you mention. A trip to Disney World can be very emotional for a lot of different reason.

Before the trip is euphoric...Anticipations is building and you can't wait.

Arriving at MCO or driving into Orlando is the best part of your vacation because the tirp is all in front of you.

Halfway through your trip you're having a great time, but start realizing the end is near.

The day before you depart you start feeling depressed and realize the end is near.

Departure day is the worst....Jumping on the Magical Express bus, checking-in at MCO, or driving out of Orlando is simply awful. In fact, you can see those guests coming in smiling while us poor sapps are frowning as we board the plane.

A total swing of emotions all the way through the trip. It's places like the DIS that make leaving Orlando tollerable.

Glad you had a fantastic vacation - two weeks sounds like heaven!

I totally understand the departure blues. I’m already dreading leaving MCO on October 3rd, knowing we won’t be back until January 2012.

Your synopsis of the stay\planning phase is SPOT ON!

Seriously, I think sometimes the anticipation, followed by the actually traveling day too WDW, is the best part. That mid stay feeling can be very depressing, and we start looking for ways to prolong the trip. (Last year, we were lucky enough to be able to add two days, but it still ends eventually).

The drive home? (Yeah, we do drive from PA). Yes, it is the worse part. Leaving Disney property is well, perhaps my least favorite thing to do!

Like I said, this place, at least makes those times a bit easier to bear. Knowing we WILL be going back, eventually, makes it easier as well. We have already booked next years trip, 10 nights at POR, so the planning has already begun. Now, I just need to decide if I want to splurge again, and perhaps stay at the Wilderness Lodge. We rather enjoyed the AKL, but, for the extra money it cost over a mod, I can't help but think we could have brought home a TON of souvenirs, especially that titanium Mickey watch I have been wanting, and still not spent as much. Decisions, decisions. Then of course, there is the yearly thought process on whether or not to buy DVC........

Thanks again all; you really do make these times easier; and it's GREAT to know I am not the only one that experiences these things. Most close friends and family, other than my wife and kids, think I'm pretty much a nut ball, LOL.
