We just got back from Disney and I wanted to shout out to all the awesome DISers on this board for offering great insight, opinions, and experiences. I was beyond anxious for this trip and due to some great advice, it went as smooth as a Disney trip during a Tropical Storm could.
We ended up not renting an ECV for my or my FIL due to fears of use in the rain -- we spent our first two park days sloshing through the parks and I didn't think it was the best time to master ECV usage. We did take more breaks than normal, sat on lots of benches while killing time, and even though I did get a GAC, Fastpasses truly are the way to go. I think I used my GAC 4 times all week, but we FPed EVERYTHING. Two of the times I used my GAC, it would've been faster to have done FP, but I really needed the slower bet, so my family did FP and I waited at the alternate entrance with my DH so I could load easier -- the moving belts got harder the longer I was on my feet!
My DH became the official FP runner and if there was a ride I was unable to do (Safari, Space Mountain), I would wander over to the ride and FP for the group, ride a bench while I waited, and we'd meet up when they were done so we could use our FPs. This eliminated me doing extra walking, made me feel MUCH less rushed, and still let us limit wait times.
Also, I want to say that doing Gluten Free dining was A LOT easier than I expected. The chefs at CRT and GG were beyond accommodating, and I owe a lot of love to the bakery chef at POR food court for coming through for me three times with amazing desserts!
I'm working on a full TR but wanted to post my gratitude to the DisABILITIES board for all the help and advice -- thanks so so much!!!
