I just wanted to thank all of you for your help prior to our trip. We only had one day at Universal, but thanks to you, we got to see so much! What a great day (for me at least....)!

We arrived at IOA at 8:30am on Sunday, Sept. 27th. We were allowed in about fifteen minutes early. I was struck by the lack of crowds in line. There was no need to worry about getting lost in a stampede once the park opened, that's for sure! I followed the itinerary that you all helped me come up with, and did the Hulk, Spiderman, Dr. Doom, Jurassic Park River Adventure, and Dueling Dragons. Dh decided against riding Hulk, Dr. Doom and DD due to motion sickness which was a good call on his part! :thumbsup2 I however, had a blast! I practically walked on everything! At DD, the friendly team member working there, asked if I had ridden Rip Ride Rockit yet. When I said no, she quickly insisted that I finish up in IOA and get right over to RRR because there would most likely be a line already. I decided to take the advice and just rode Cat in the Hat and High in the Sky Trolley and motored over to Universal Studios.

There was already a 90 minute wait for RRR, but luckily the single rider line was open!! :cool1: I only ended up waiting about 35 minutes which was pretty good I thought. Dh went to Twister while I waited for RRR. GREAT ride! I loved the personalized soundtrack. I also did the Simpsons ride which was pretty good. I actually loved the little videos and signs prior to the ride a bit more than the actual ride itself.

We also did some of the oldies but goodies attractions, as well as Shrek, MIB, Horror Make-up show, Terrminator and the Mummy. Despite dh's efforts to avoid motion sickness, he still got pretty sick by about 2pm. That darn Cat in the Hat ride and Men in Black seemed to have more spinning than usual, and dh was a goner. :( Being the trooper that he is, he tried to continue with me, but it was a losing battle. It was particularly disappointing since he purposely avoided the biggies (Hulk, DD, RRR, Simpsons), but he still managed to get sick.

We got a fair bit of rain that day, so running in and out of buildings wasn't helping him too much either. We did manage to go back to IOA and ride Popeye's Barge ride. We figured that we were wet anyway, so why not?? ;) Ripsaw Falls was closed for a long time due to lightning in the area, so we never got to ride it this year.

In short, dh and I each had very different experiences! Dh said that he doesn't think he can handle going back to Universal again in the near future. There weren't many rides that he was able to handle. He liked seeing Jaws and some of the old shows/rides for nostalgia, but it bothered him to know that he can't do any of the newer rides, including a relatively tame ride like Cat in the Hat. I had a wonderful time myself, though it was dampened a bit (no not from the rain.....;) ) by my worrying about dh. We've agreed that the next time we go to Central Florida, I should plan a Universal day with fellow thrill-rider fans. When that day comes, you can bet I'll be back here on the Universal board. Thanks all! :goodvibes

Sorry to hear that DH had not such A good time. But sounded like you had A blast.I do remember you posting and asking how to tackle US&IOA in A day.So glad you had A great time. Please visit this site more,we got some tricks that will let DH have A better time!!:thumbsup2

I have more trouble with Cat In the Hat than any other ride in Orlando so you husband shouldn't feel bad about it. I ride all of the coasters constantly and never have a problem but that cat gets me every time. I've never actually gotten sick but it makes me feel like I could throw up at any minute.

It does rank up with the TeaCups at DW and StormForce at IOA!!
If I want A spin and puke, the local fair comes to town once A year. But I ove the FOOD at the fare-footlong corndog priceless!!:thumbsup2
Know what you ride before you ride!!!!!

That's too bad about your DH. When we were there is August, it was really hot and I forgot to take my Dramamine. We did RRR, Simpsons and then walked over to IOA and did Cat in the Hat. I was done for about an hour after that. It was a good thing it was lunch-time and we sat in a nice cool Mythos, I took some Dramamine and some ginger ale and was good to go.

I can really sympathize with your DH. It is such an awful feeling.
