Just back from our 5 days in DL! DH had a convention, and we were able to tag along and do it up in DL. It was wonderful to take it slow and just enjoy it!
We stayed at the Embassy Suites South, and enjoyed our stay. I can see why some would suggest to stay within walking distance because the ART shuttle took a good deal of time, but we were there mostly for the convention. Luckily we had 5 days, so we didn't feel the time pressure as much, but to walk to the resort would be ideal. We tried the walk back, and although it was pleasant, it was too far!
We had lunch at Ariels' Grotto, and the food was good. We had the only bad server in the place. Every other server we could see was pleasant, except ours and we were mostly ignored. Ah well, the character interaction was great. I voiced my complaint on the way out because we were just about last to leave (and first to be seated), but left it at that.
The highlight was our Goofys' Kitchen dinner. Our DS(3) absolutely loved this experience. (We also had excellent service!)
The lines were mostly non-existant in the parks, the longest wait we had was for the Storybook boat, and that was about a half hour. :woohoo:
We had an awesome time. Thanks to all of the folks here at the DIS, we knew what to expect!:grouphug:

YAY! I'm glad you had an awesome time. When is your next trip? J/k.

I think every now and then bad servers are known to roam DL. Fortunately I haven't had a bad experience yet but I know it does happen, I heard some stories about servers at the blue bayou even though we had an awesome server. Glad you had a great time though.:yay:

Oh Skroops, I am so glad you and your family had a great trip! It sure makes a difference when the crowds are light, doesn't it? Sorry about Ariels, but isn't Goofy's awesome? I hear ya with the frustration about ART, I don't care for it much, either :)

Glad you had a great trip!! I too always vote for walking distance hotels, but when it's paid for, what can you do!! I can't believe you walked one night, you are brave, that's quite a hike!

Was DH able to go in with you at all or was it just you and DS at the parks?

Andrea

Glad to hear you had a wonderful time. What was your DS's favorite ride??

He says Peter Pan, but he talked about the Muppets in 3D the most. He also had a "wish" and Minnie rode the kiddie roller coaster with him, as Mommy and Daddy sat behind him. Minnie had her arm around him, and he ate it up! He is in love! He talked about Minnie the rest of the trip. It was so awesome.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed your trip. Goofy's Kitchen is AWESOME and I am glad that you had better service :goodvibes

The funny thing about the walk is that I didn't have the stroller with me, so I ended up carrying DS on and off the whole way. He's at the stage where he doesn't want a stroller!:rotfl: The ART shuttle driver was on break from 1-2 (or so) and we were at the shuttle stop at 1:20 when another driver reminded me. (oops forgot and got behind on nap time) So, I wandered over to the cabs and there was a wait for the cab, so we kept walking. It was a gorgeous day, and we just kept going. We stopped at Carl Jr.s' for a drink on the way, and when we were walking up to the hotel the ART shuttle pulled in. We were tired, but not dragging our bodies...so it turned out okay. I wouldn't want to do that often though! It would have been better for me if I had him in a stroller.;)

DH was able to have 2 evenings free to go to the parks with us. Three, if you count the dinner at Goofys' Kitchen. I would have loved to have more family time, but it sure beat staying at home in the artic tundra!! (MN)
All in all, it was a really great time. We'll definately go back! Many of the attractions were better than at WDW (IMO!) and DL has a more quaint feel to it. I had been to DL twice in the past, once as a little girl, and another visit in 2002 (pre-kiddo) but seeing it through the eyes of my child is different. I absolutely love love love California weather, so I imagine we'll spend many more vacations there once kiddo is a tiny bit older and the 4 hr flight isn't so torturous.:woohoo:

Im happy you had a wonderful time. Minnie mouse is so adorable. I can see why your son is in love hehehe

What was your favorite ride or your favorite moment that happened?

I am so glad you had fun. I remember your pre trip posts so its nice to see how it all went!

Sounds like a great trip!!! Do you have any pics to share?? :rolleyes1
