With the news that LOW won't be returning to EPCOT this year, I've been thinking about how grateful I am for all the things (that are no more) that we were able to experience due to the frequent trips and slower touring style made possible by DVC ownership.

A few of the "I'm so glad I got to see/do that" moments for us:

1. The Summer Block Party at DTD - this was our first year as DVC members and the free admission to PI provided us with an excuse to take our kids to the earliest shows at....

2. The Comedy Club - okay, so the place was not packed at 7pm and the shows probably get much funnier as the night wears on - but my kids thought
this was the best ever.

AND

3. The Adventurer's Club - so sad this place is gone.

4. Riding in the front of the monorail.

5. Lights of Wonder

6. That Cinderella's slipper dessert at CRT. I have pictures of that thing.

7. The in-park VMK quests and VMK behind-the-scenes tour.

8. Waking up Tink - it took us years of trying to be first in line, but we made it eventually!

What is LOW?

Lights of Winter. They have always been displayed in the area where Future World connects to World Showcase at Epcot. They change colors and flash to music. Very nice and something special for the Marathon at 6AM.

Before Pixie Hollow, Tink "lived" in Tinkerbell's Treasures. There is LED "Pixie Dust" around the store. The first family in the morning got to "wake her up" - there's a jewelry box-type thing behind the cash register and you were given a magic wand to tap on the box. After calling "Wake up Tink", you could hear her fly and the LEDs would light up as she moved across the room. You'd get a Magical Moment's certificate too.

It was low-key but very sweet. One of those little touches that Disney did - but it was HARD to get there first w/out CRT breakfast reservations!

They still have this version! They got rid of the old version where Tink was locked in the dresser and added the LED light/Screen way of "calling" Tink.

I only know this because my DD had done it the old way, and was looking to do it again this year. I knew it was gone (dresser) but I wanted to make sure I was right so we asked and she said "Would you like to call her? She left a special bell so we can call her anytime we want.". She handed my DD the bell to ring and Tink appeared, flew around the store and then landed in the alcove behind the counter. It was really cute

I miss the New Years Eve parties at PI. My DH and I went for the 2003/2004 New Years and saw Blondie and Sugar Hill Gang. It was sooooo much fun.
