I have to say thank you to everyone who posts on this board. The information and insight is invaluable. I've been a lurker here for years as my Dad isn't able to walk extremely long distances, which usually isn't an issue as I'll never get him to WDW.
I'd like to believe that reading these posts helped me to be a little more aware when I'm at WDW and everywhere else.
Now, I can see that you can't really understand until you're in that position. My DH was in a terrible accident in Sept. that crushed his right foot completely. He has to have absolutely no weight on it for 12 weeks and then reduced weight for 3-4 months after that. If a full recovery is possible (a big if!!), it will take a minimum of a year. So, he's in a wheelchair right now. We have very positive attitudes for his recovery and that it could have been much worse.
I have a new understanding now of what so many people go through every day.
We were supposed to go to WDW on Oct 24th, but that was postponed until next year. Best case scenario, we will be renting an ECV to cut down on the amount of walking for DH. Which I would not have known to do without all your help.
So, this is my long-winded way of saying a very heartfelt thank you to everyone on this board for sharing your information and experiences, not just at Disney but in life. It is appreciated more than you will ever know.
