I just wanted to say thank you to all of you. I am currently planning my family's first trip to Disney for this coming September. We are sooo excited but obviously, are trying to save money on resorts/food so we can spend more on other things while we are there. After stumbling across this board I found out about the possibility of free dining and about these elusive pins. I had NEVER even heard about a pin, let alone recieved one before. However, all that changed today -- I got my first pin!!!!! It is a 20/30/40 room discount pin and I am soo excited. I think that free dining would still save us a bit more money but am going to try to figure that out.

Quick question though for all of you -- I already have a reservation made. Should I call now add the pin I got and then could I change it to free dining when that special comes out? I assume that I can't use both, but want to figure out the best way to work within the system.

Yes, call ASAP and apply the code to your existing ressie. I have read a couple of posst where people called and the resort of choice was already booked for pin people (each resort sets aside XXX amount of rooms to be discounted..like the airlines) I would get the pin offer now and yes, you can try for the free dining offer later if it becomes available.

Woo hoo!!!! Gotta love those PINs. Most definately, call NOW Like the previous poster mentioned, there might not be any PIN rooms avaiable for your dates so be prepared for a backup resort (I would definately change resorts to save money). After I got my PIN, I booked my September trip at AKL when we were going to stay at a moderate. I'm just sooooooo excited

If you want to make sure you get a discount of some sort, definitely call now to add your PIN. Right now, free dining is still in the rumor stage but your PIN is a definite.

However, since free dining would require you to pay rack rate, it wouldn't necessarily be as simple as just switching offers should you decide to do FD instead. You'd likely need to cancel the first reservation and begin a new one. If that's not a problem, go for it!
