Just wanted to say thanks to many of the regular posters on the transportation forums. In not a small part due to reading here, above the strenuous objections of Mr RachelEllen, I purchased a seat for our 10 month old on our flight returning across that Atlantic yesterday. Several times the turbulance was bad enough that the cabin crew was seated. Just now, I was forwarded this by a chagrined hubby:

I still think the absolute risk to a lap infant is small enough that I in no way look down upon people who travel that way. However, for me, this hit close enough to home that I'm glad we travelled with her in car seat.
