So we booked our trip at BLT for October 20th, and we booked our flight on SW. It was $340 for the both of us one way. WELL yesterday, checked again and flight prices dropped a total of $130 for us both, so now we have credit for our flight next august! $84 one way is a super great deal for us!

You know the credit's only good for a year from when you first bought this current ticket, right?

and ill be booking airfare before 1 yr is up. Besides, if you call them and let them know you are gonna be over a month or 2, they let you slide. thats why i like SW. We have done that before.

Don't you need to complete travel within one year of the original purchase date? That's my understanding.

I wish Southwest would come to Atlanta. We only get the overpriced no service airlines here. Like Delta

That was my understanding also - the last time I called they said they would extend the credit time for a $50 fee

  1. You must finish your flights within that year, not just purchase.
  2. "Let you slide?" Good luck with that. They may have done that at one point as a "one-time courtesy," but if they'll do it at all it's a $50 fee. Especially the "new" Southwest. They're not about to publicize it, but they're changing the rule in January and credits can only be redeemed for a ticket for the SAME person that the original ticket was for. Quite a few rules have been tilted recently, all in the company's favor.

Be prepared to either use it for flights before the 1-year anniversary, to have to pay a $50 fee to extend it, or to lose it altogether.

First, congratulations. I think it's fabulous you got such a good deal. In my region, it is so rare anymore. :sad1: And secondly, while in the past SW used to be good about "letting it slide," those days are over. Unforunately, it absolutely has to be used, with travel completed, within 1 year of the date of purchase or pay $50. for a 6 month extension per each issued ticket [or put all the funds together by purchasing a 'dummy' flight and cancelling].

Sounds like a good reason to plan another trip before next August!!! :thumbsup2

well if you can't use the credit for Aug then that's a good excuse to plan another trip! :goodvibes
