I want to thank all of you who took the time to reply to the thread Dan had posted about the death of our beloved parrot, Poncho. (Here on this thread
. http://130.94.75.33/showthread.php?t=953777) Your kind words and expressions of sympathy have been a real comfort to me as I read through all of them.
It is good to know that so many of you understand the grief we feel when one of our well-loved pets passes on . As Dan had told you, Poncho was with our family for 47 years. My father brought him home when I was 11 years old so it has only been those first eleven years that I have not had Poncho in my life. You can imagine why it is so difficult now to say goodbye to him. My mother is also having a difficult time right now since she misses him so much.
We know how very fortunate we were to have had Poncho in our lives for so many years. That little guy brought so much joy, laughter, companionship and comfort into our lives. Among the many family members and friends who knew Poncho throughout the years are numerous stories and anecdotes relating to Ponchos unique personality.
When anyone who knew Poncho talks about their own personal experience with him, many smiles and laughter always accompanies the dialogue.
I believe that Poncho was a true blessing to all who came to know and love him. I think all of the many animals on this earth can also be a comfort and a blessing to anyone who takes the time to appreciate and love them.
To all of you pet lovers here on the DIS, I wish a long, happy and healthy life for all of your pets (and you, too, of course). For those pets that have crossed that Rainbow Bridge, we hope one day to be reunited with all of them.
For my beloved parrot, God bless you always, Poncho Ill see you in another time and place.

47 years is a long time.
It sounds like Poncho had a wonderful life and brought joy to many people. You were very lucky to have him in your life for so long.
