I want to thank all of you who took the time to reply to the thread Dan had posted about the death of our beloved parrot, Poncho. (Here on this thread…. http://130.94.75.33/showthread.php?t=953777) Your kind words and expressions of sympathy have been a real comfort to me as I read through all of them.
It is good to know that so many of you understand the grief we feel when one of our well-loved pets passes on . As Dan had told you, Poncho was with our family for 47 years. My father brought him home when I was 11 years old so it has only been those first eleven years that I have not had Poncho in my life. You can imagine why it is so difficult now to say goodbye to him. My mother is also having a difficult time right now since she misses him so much.

We know how very fortunate we were to have had Poncho in our lives for so many years. That “little guy” brought so much joy, laughter, companionship and comfort into our lives. Among the many family members and friends who knew Poncho throughout the years are numerous stories and anecdotes relating to Poncho’s unique personality.
When anyone who knew Poncho talks about their own personal experience with him, many smiles and laughter always accompanies the dialogue.

I believe that Poncho was a true blessing to all who came to know and love him. I think all of the many animals on this earth can also be a comfort and a blessing to anyone who takes the time to appreciate and love them.

To all of you pet lovers here on the DIS, I wish a long, happy and healthy life for all of your pets (and you, too, of course). For those pets that have crossed that Rainbow Bridge, we hope one day to be reunited with all of them.

For my beloved parrot, God bless you always, Poncho – I’ll see you in another time and place.

Marie.. I know it must have been so difficult to lose your pet of such a long time... :grouphug:

I must have missed Dan's post. Marie, I'm so sorry! It is definitely hard to lose a pet. We lost our Yorkie, Maggie, a week ago so unfortunately I know exactly how you feel as the feelings are still very real for me. :( It sounds like Poncho had a wonderful life and brought joy to many people. You were very lucky to have him in your life for so long.

It is so hard to lose a beloved pet especially one that you have had for 47 years. It must be comforting to have wonderful memories of Poncho to think about. My little 8 year old westie will be going to the rainbow bridge soon after just being diagnosed with bone cancer in her back so I can understand your feelings of grief. Take care.

I also missed dan's post! I am so sorry about your Poncho! It has been a tough year on the dis for our petbabies!! :guilty: :guilty:

so sorry about your loss of your friend.....I know what we went thru and only a pet lover could understand.......Hugs to you and your poor mama

I missed Dan's post Marie, but my heart goes out to all of you that knew and loved Poncho. I'm so sorry for your loss.

It's so awful to lose a dear pet and I can't imagine what it's like after so many years! It must be so weird and quiet right now too. All my best.

:grouphug: I am so sorry for your loss.

I think I missed the post also. I am so sorry, like the others, I can't imagine losing a pet after 47 years. How difficult it must be for you and Dan.
