TGM subscription

I'm interested in purchasing the TGM subscription, however, we are not going until May 2009. How long is the subscription for? Should we wait until it's closer to time to go before purchasing? Thanks!

THe subscription is only good for 1 yr so i would wait until closer to the time of your trip (about 6 mths out) to purchase!!

I believe the subscription is good for 1 year. However the main information you will wont to have will not be available until 6 months prior to your trip. He has to wait for the official hours to come out before he will make suggestions during your time of visit. I just came back from a trip using his information and was very, very pleased. I will use him again for our next trip!

The subscription can be purchased any time before your trip, now is not too early. As said, information gets more exacting as your days draw closer. It is good for 60 (if I recall) days after your trip.

TGM has said he doesn't mind people purchasing it up to 2 years in advance of the trip. the subscription itself is good up until the trip + 60 days I believe (either that or 45 days)

OP, you can purchase now for May 2009 if you want to.

No. As I understand it, TGM charges per trip. So, for example, if your trip will be March 2009, then you could subscribe to TGM now, use it until March 2009, and then continue to use it for 60 days after March 2009.

so about 3 months in this case, yes, but really the time after isn't nearly as important as the time before. 3 weeks isn't much for what he has to offer, but it's a good start. if you sign up, i'd probably look at the april planner and then head right to the forums.

Oh now that's nice that's it's per trip and not per year. I still think that I might wait for a little just to be on the safe side. DH is military and we never know when they might say pack your stuff or they decide to move us. Thank each of you for your reply!

Now, you're making me jealous. I'm pretty torn on what to do. I guess it can't hurt as it's only about $20. I'll be talking it over with DH tonight.

It's no problem to sign up now. I have subscribed in the past and just renewed last month for our trip June 2009. I highly recommend giving yourself as much time as possible to understand the system. You can get a lot of it if you try. It's true that info specifically relevant to your dates won't be on there until 6 months out. That doesn't mean you can't plan anyway!
