Well, we've (wife and I) returned from our trip to the Disneyland Paris Resort. We spent two full days in the parks and split 3 other days between Paris and the Parks.
Being from America, we have been to all the Walt Disney World parks as well as Disneyland California (recent enough to experience Cars Land) so I'll be adding comparisons here and there wherever it may seem helpful to those in America looking to visit Disney Paris and vice versa.
General impressions:
We took a direct flight from Houston to Paris (CDG) on Air France. We got to the Resort via private shuttle (Inter Service Prestige). Flight was uneventful and out shuttle was waiting for us. It was a LOT COLDER than we expected and we weren't quite prepared for it!!!
We booked our stay at the Cheyenne. We arrived early enough that our room wasn't ready so we checked out bags and took off to the main park (via the resort shuttle). The shuttle service is pretty much identical to that of the WDW parks. Fairly frequent, and the depot at the parks is well labeled so it's easy to get on the right bus.
We hit the ground running and knocked out quite a few rides. Space Mountain Mission 2 was the high and low light of the day.
It was out high as it turned out to be our favorite ride. It was our low because of the HORRIBLE line management. Just before the queue splits up for loading there are two sharp turns. We were literally crushed rounding the first turn by surge of people trying to shove there way in front of each other. Quite shocking in that smaller kids could conceivably be hurt by the surging crowds. NEVER seen or experienced anything like it at ANY amusement park (and I've been to many). Quite disgraceful.
We also were able to ride Phantom Manor, Pirates, Small World and Peter Pan before heading back to check in and grab some extra clothes for warmth!!
We ended up in the Sundance block, nice and quiet and close to the path that leads to the parks (we walked the path daily, foregoing the use of the shuttle).
After bundling up we headed back to the parks and split the rest of the evening between the two parks and turned in somewhat early (we did no catch Dreams the first night).
The next day, our first full day) we got up early (we chose 7am breakfast) and got to the main park for Early Magic Hours then bounced between the parks trying to stay one step ahead of the crowds.
We caught Dreams this night and loved it. What a great spectacle!
We split the next three days between Paris and the parks. We loved having the train depot so close. We took the RER and used the Metro as well for roaming around Paris.
Detailed impression in the next post.
