Can you tell me anything about it?

I know it's 75 miles north of Dallas. I can't find a town website or anything which leads me to believe it's out in the middle of nowhere.

One of DFiance's collegues lives there and is building a new house and a golf course. He is going to be renting out his exsisting house and Derek is very interested in renting from him. It's right on the golf course, which is due to be completed in the Spring. The front nine is open now. His Friend will also give him a free membership on the course and DFiance plays golf about 3-4 days a week between March and October so it would financially a smart move.

I am concerned there is nothing in Sherman. I will need a part-time job. Either waitressing, retail or the YMCA teaching swim lessons.

Thanks for the help.....

I've never been up that way. It sounds like a good deal for your DF though. If you rent from his collegue for a year then that will give you a better idea of what this area is like. Then you can either rent from him move to another city closer to DFW metroplex.

Good luck,

Here's the city's website- pretty dry info, I'm afraid:

This looks like a better city guide:

Some info on Lake Texoma:
Lake Texoma

Sherman/Denison/Pottsboro are all really close together, in Grayson County. They sit on the Texas side of the Texas/Oklahoma border on Lake Texoma, about an hour north of Dallas.

It's a pretty quiet area, but not hard to get to Dallas.

Here's a little map of the area (the star marks Tanglewood Resort, on the lake.)

I drive through Sherman on my way to Tulsa. It looks like a good place. Big enough to have everything you need, small enough to not feel like you live in the city. Lake Texoma is a beautiful lake.

I lived in Sherman one summer while my husband worked there for Texas Instruments, and it is a nice town. 75 miles may sound like a long way into Dallas, but there are several towns and suburbs (McKinney, Allen, Plano, Richardson) in between Dallas proper and Sherman. It has a small mall, a private college, a county college, and several restaurants. I am one who can't stand being in the middle of no where, but Sherman is big enough that I would probably be willing to live there again if I needed to. The town is small, but not quite that small. Actually it's pretty big compared to a lot of towns in this part of the country. And close enough to Dallas/Fort Worth that you could always find something to do.
