Texas Appliance Rebate

So, today is the big day for the appliance rebate. You have to call in or request a rebate form online. There is only so much to go around.

I have been calling/trying online for over 2 hours. I must have called at least a hundred times. It is busy. And online it won't let me go through.

When I started calling at noon, the precentage of funds used was at 28%,
it is already up to 77%

I guess we will just not get this offer.

Does anyone have any tips/tricks?

i was able to get in. dunno if it makes a difference but i was trying with a firefox browser as well as an IE browser and was able to get in with the firefox one. Good luck guys!

I'm really really frustrated. We did everything right but just weren't lucky enough, I guess. Our washer is broken and we've been waiting for this rebate. Even went last night to look at new washers. What a joke.

I can't even get through to be placed on the waitlist.

Here in Florida you have to buy the appliance before you try to get the rebate. So my MIL wants to get a fridge & dishwasher, but if she can't get through like you guys she's in trouble!

Well, in Texas you fill out an application for either one or two approved appliances. Then you purchase your appliance and fill out the rebate form and send it in along with your receipt. There was only a limited amount of money available and it was on a first come first serve basis.

Wonder how hard it is to return a freezer if the rebate doesn't come through! I don't know if I'll get a new freezer or not now.

After 3 more hours, I finally got on the waitlist too but noticed that we have to still buy in the same time frame and just HOPE a refund comes through. We do need a washer... and the salesman at Sears said they expected deep discounts during that timeframe to entice people with rebates to purchase from them so it may be the best time saleswise for us to buy.

I just heard on the news that 75% of the web traffic was traced back to ONE IP address - evidently a hacker. Ridiculous.

I am just curious, what is this rebate thing all about? I live in TX. The only thing I knew about was a tax credit for replacing a hot water heater. Thanks for any info.

Thank goodness that I have this week off work or else I probably wouldn't have been successful. I did get 2 - fridge and dishwasher. I literally spent all day yesterday trying for them. I got my last one about 2:15 shortly before they ran out. I actually got 3. One of my fridges requests errorred out before I got to the print page and I didn't think I got it. I was surprised to see 3 confirmation emails this morning. I have written them an email about which one I should use. I tried the "reprint your form" link for the 1st one that I didn't get to print and that link is broken. That doesn't come as too big of a surprise considering the mess they made of it.

Here's some advice for those of you in other states may be doing this in the future if it's run by the same company as this one. (I read they've run similar programs in other states.) There were different links for each different appliance. I only got through on the fridge link once as I mentioned above. I couldn't even get to the authentication page there again but on the dishwasher link I could usually get the authentication page but then it would error out. (I think fridges were a lot more popular than dishwashers hence the harder time getting through on that link.) Once you get past that then you fill out your name and address and choose which appliance you want. The appliance is automatically filled in but it is a drop down box so you can change it if you want. If I had to do this again, I would use the link for the most expensive / least popular appliance - like the heat pump - and change it to the appliance I wanted to see if that worked better.

Sears here in FL told my MIL they would be offering 30% off that week as well. That way, even if you don't get the rebate at least you saved some money. But if she knew she could get the 30% plus the rebate she would probably buy something nicer!
