If you will be there May 9-22, be sure and let us know what you think of the Evening Extra Magic Hour test program that will be going on while you are there.

I am interested to find out if everyone that goes thought it was better than E-Ride or not.

I guess if this is implemented it could affect occupany levels in rooms. If you want to participate you have to have a valid Disney resort ID for each guest getting a wristband.

It will be very interesting to see how the test goes and if they continue to offer it this summer.

Do you know if they are planning to get rid of the morning EMH, if the evening one is put in place???? or will it be in addition to the morning EMH??? The morning one works best for us with little ones!

There have been rumors with limited details about this. The short version is to end the 1 hour early entry program as it exist now and in return on-property guests get 3 hrs additional in the evening. Sounds great on the surface, BUT, are we trading 7 days on one hour ( 7 total extra hrs) for ONE late nite ( 3 total hrs) or maybe 2,3,4,etc. Will it only be MK and MGM, because it's not really practical for AK and EPCOT ? Too many unanswered details.

.... it has more info then was previously released. We will be there the 15th thru the 23rd so we should have the opportunity to try it out. Well, back to reading the rest of your link.

We will be ther May 9th to the 15th. Currently waiting for some official word from Disney on the actual parks/days/hours. Then we will adjust our plans. If in fact we end up taking advantage of the EMH, I will certainly come back and let you know how it was.

DARN!!! We'll be there May 1-9. This always seems to happen. Every time I make ressies, book airlines, etc, they come up with something that I would like to have done. First time I made ressies as a DVC member, they came out with the Members Only Cruise, so we couldn't go on the cruise. Then we made ressies for this year and they come out with MH. Now this!!

I SURE WISH THEY WOULD ANNOUNCE THESE PROMOTIONS EARLIER TO GIVE PEOPLE A LONGER TIME IN WHICH TO PLAN!!!!

We will be there for the first night, 5/9. We fly back on the 10th so I will post based on the first night upon our return. Being somewhat of a planner, we had planned on doing the EE at MK that morning. I've read conflicting posts that EE will still be available that morning but we'll have to wait for the official park hours and announcements. It does somewhat change our plans. I just rearranged our schedule to do Epcot on Saturday night to avoid the MK crowds and scoot over to MK in time for Wishes. I will now be changing our itinerary to do Epcot Sunday evening instead of Saturday.

My biggest question and I guess I'll have to wait and see when this is officially announced is "What things will be opened other than the rides mentioned?" In other words, will just Mexico and Norway be opened in the World Showcase or will all the shops, restaurants, etc. be opened to?

Thanks in advance to those that will report back.

I really want opinions from DVC members as they tend to see and do things as we would, being members also.

Hi,

Will arive at Walt Disney World on monday 10 may evening at the POP century. I'm departing on sunday 23 May.
I'm just there when they are going to test. If this is official, I'm very happy with it. Parks at night are so great.
Will let you know about my thoughts after I return at home.

Gr. Marcel.

I will only get to try one of the nights providing I can re-enter park after they do the closing for off site guest. Will let you know what happens. Untill they make the times official I am not changing anything.

I think it will be a combo of both EMH mornings and EMH at night
Heres the schedule I have seen...

Sun- EPCOT EMH evening
Mon-AK EMH morning
Tues-MGM EMH evening
Wed EPCOT EMH morning and MK EMH evening
Thur AK EMH evening
Fri- MK EMH morning
Sat- MGM EMH morning

There are a total of 8 times with either morning or night. Each park does one of each time slot per week. I will be there for 7 days and will post my thoughts when I return.

AK evening EMH will be just 1 hour
all other parks in the evening will be 3 hours
mornings will remain just 1 hour. There are more attractions working at night then there are durning EMH mornings.
I will try to post that when I find the info again.
It was on WDWinfo.com

19 April 2004: New Extra Magic Hour schedule tests

Walt Disney World theme parks will test a varied Extra Magic Hour schedule from May 9-22 to include time in both the early morning and evening. (The Extra Magic Hour offering lets many on-property Guests enjoy particular theme parks for an extra morning hour before the participating park opens to other Guests.)

Many Guests utilizing the Extra Magic Hour offering have requested the opportunity to enjoy this benefit in the evening, as well in the morning hours.

The revised schedule will give Guests eight opportunities to enjoy the Extra Magic Hour each week (one hour prior to and as many as three hours after regularly scheduled park hours). Guests staying at Disney-owned-and-operated resorts, as well as those staying at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, or the Lake Buena Vista Hilton, may enjoy both the morning and evening Extra Magic Hours at no charge with valid theme park admission. Guests staying at Shades of Green may participate in the morning offering only.

Guests using single-day tickets must visit the theme park presenting the Extra Magic Hour on that day to enjoy the offering, while Guests using multi-day and park-hopping tickets may visit any Disney theme park during the day and still enjoy the evening Extra Magic Hour at the participating theme park.

The Extra Magic Hour schedule will be available at www.disneyworld.com on the Internet and in Guests' World Update publication.

Admittance: From May 9 through May 22, the Extra Magic Hour schedule will allow Guests staying at select Walt Disney World Resorts time in our Theme Parks in both the early morning and evening.

Morning Extra Magic Hour occurs one hour prior to regularly scheduled Park opening and Guests will need to present a valid Key to the World Card at the park's turnstiles.

Resort Guests wishing to enjoy Evening Extra Magic Hours should obtain a wristband at one of the following by presenting a valid Key to the World Card:

At the Main Entrance turnstile no sooner than three hours prior to Park close. At select locations throughout the park no sooner than two hours prior to Park close.

FAQ's
2. Will the morning and evening experiences be the same?

No. The attractions available during the morning and evening Extra Magic Hours offerings will be slightly different based on the number of Guests we anticipate attending each event.

3. Who can attend Extra Magic Hours in the evening?

Both the morning and evening Extra Magic Hours will be available from May 9 through May 22 to Guests staying at Disney owned and operated resorts, as well as Guests staying at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin and the Lake Buena Vista Hilton. Guests staying at Shades of Green may participate in the morning offering only.

4. Is there an additional charge or separate ticket required for Extra Magic Hours?

The offering is at no additional charge for eligible Guests with valid theme park admission. Guests using single-day ticket media will need to visit the theme park offering Extra Magic Hours on that day to enjoy the offering while Guests using multi-day and park-hopping tickets can visit any Disney theme park prior to attending the evening Extra Magic Hours.

5. Where will the schedule for both the morning and evening offerings be available?

The schedule and available attractions for the Extra Magic Hours offering for May 9 through May 22 will be available to eligible Guests on a designated URL on disneyworld.com and in the World Update.

6. Why is the evening offering three hours as opposed to only one hour in the morning?

As we anticipate more Guests wishing to experience the evening Extra Magic Hours offering, we have planned additional time for Guests to enjoy certain attractions with a minimal wait time.

7. Will FASTPASS be available?

FASTPASS will be offered during the evening Extra Magic Hours as needed on certain attractions. Because of the reduced number of Guests in the park during the morning offerings, we do not offer FASTPASS during the morning offering.

8. Is this replacing E-Ride Nights at the Magic Kingdom?

No. This summer, the Magic Kingdom will be offering E-Ride Nights on certain dates.

9. Why are we only doing this for two weeks?

Many Guests told us that they wished they had the opportunity to enjoy Extra Magic Hours in the evening, as well as in the morning hours. To fully understand the impact of the later hours, we need to test the revised schedule for two weeks.

10. How are we communicating this change to eligible Guests?

Guests staying at a Disney-owned and operated resort will be notified by postcard before their arrival of this change to assist them with planning their stay, which will direct them to website with details of the offerings. The schedule and details of the offering will also be distributed to resort Guests with the World Update.

11. I have a dining reservation for breakfast in a theme park on a morning when they would have typically offered Extra Magic Hour, but won’t now because of this change? What do I do?

Dining locations at the theme park will honor existing reservations and will operate as if the park was offering Extra Magic Hour.

12. What dining options will be available during the evening Extra Magic Hour?

Certain dining locations will operate in each park during the evening Extra Magic Hours. Information regarding the locations that will operate can be obtained by visiting Theme Park Guest Relations or the Resort Guest Services desk. Guests wishing to book priority seating for table dining during the evening Extra Magic Hours may do so at the specific location.

13. Will transportation be available later in the evening for resort Guests?

Yes. During the test, WDW Transportation will extend their service hours from the theme park offering Extra Magic Hours.

14. I have heard rumors about this. Will the evening Extra Magic Hour become a permanent offering?

At this time, we have adjusted the Extra Magic Hour offering for a limited time from May 9 through May 22. We will share details about future offerings once we a decision has been made.

15. I know that most Magical Gatherings Guests are staying at a Disney resort. Will Magical Gatherings Guests who are already in a park, but are not staying at a Disney resort, be allowed to stay for the evening Extra Magic Hour?

During this test, all Magical Gathering Guests staying in a Walt Disney World Resort hotel that offers the Extra Magic Hours benefit will be eligible to stay in the evening Extra Magic Hour. Other Guests would not be eligible for this offering.

16. How will the park exit work for Guests who are not eligible to remain for the evening Extra Magic Hours?

Park exits will occur similar as they do today. Guests who are not eligible for the Extra Magic Hours benefit will be directed to the park exit upon park close. Locations near the entrance of each park, such as merchandise locations, will follow current closing procedures, which allow Guests some additional time beyond park close.

17. If the morning Extra Magic Hour changes, will resort Guests still be allowed to enter the park early if they arrive before the scheduled operating hours?

No. Guests will be notified of the change to the Extra Magic hour before arrival and again on check-in via the World Update. If the location changes for the Extra Magic Hour and a resort Guest is not aware of this, the resort Guest will be provided with the revised schedule.

We will be there during the testing period May 9-13. :sunny:

It works for me because DH is not a morning person. Especially on vacation. Then he likes his sit down breakfasts. When I'm raring to go

DH and I are looking forward to the experience :p

If I understand this correctly, on Wednesdays during the evening EMH, the MK is open up to 3 hours late. So if the regular hours are 9:00am - 9:00pm, the MK will be open 'til midnight? Wow!

If I'm using a parkhopper and plan on being in a different park on Wednesday (which is our MGM day), we'll have to get to MK within three hours of its official closing time, correct?

Lori,
I know your information is unofficial, but how "official" was your source? It sounds like you have the most detailed information available.

What Lori, found is the first information that was posted by Oogie Boogie, I think. It was taken from the Eyes and Ears newsletter which is the CM newsletter. So its official but subject to change.

I had originally wanted to go in May during this timeframe but DH couldn't get off work then. Darn, wish we were going to be there then, I'm a night owl!

2infinityandbeyond,

I believe that they start handing out the wristbands no earlier than 3 hours before the park closing time. You should not have to be there 3 hours before park closing to get a band, they should be available right up until the regular park closing time (like the e-ticket night bands). I had the same thought about having to be there 3 hours before closing, so I kept rereading the information and that is how I interpreted it.

Of course, I could be wrong!!
