Today, I found out that America's independence was voted on, on the 2nd July 1776, and that all the signatures on the Decleration of Independence were all made by August 2nd 1776.

Does that mean that Independence Day is celebrated on the wrong day?

That is not what they teach us over hear. There is actually a photograph of the moment after all the representative of Congress signed the Declaration of Independence and on the wall is the calender with that date of July 4th. What I have always been told is that it was voted on July 3rd and then shortly after Midnight turning the day to July 4th the Congress signed it.

But didn't all the 13 Colonies have to unanimous vote Yes for Independence for the Declaration to even be signed?

I know it had to be unanious to pass. They even had to have a unanious vote to even bring up the topic of Independence for discussion.

So, is Independence Day celebrated on the wrong day, or the right day. I have 3 dates, one being the right one...

So if you consider Independence Day being the legal seperation from the UK, then it's July 2nd. If you consider Independence Day being when the Decleration of Independence being approved, then it's July 4th. If you consider the Independence Day being when everyone had signed the Decleration of Independence, then it's August 2nd.
