Test Track Refurb (Rumor)

(11/6/07) From the sound of the latest rumor, Test Track will become a real WDI Test Track at some point in late 2008 or early 2009. Seems they have a number of improvements and upgrades they want to make to the ride system before they begun full on construction of the dual-tracked Cars themed version at California Adventure and the best place to test out the prototypes is on Test Track. I have no solid details on what may be in store or even if they will just run a few prototype cars or upgrade the entire ride system. Either way it sounds like an extended rehab will shut down the ride for several weeks in the next 12-18 months.

I think it would be great if the WDW Test Track gets an updated track.

I highly doubt if they do prototype cars that the cars will be the character cars.(Remember this ride is sponcered by GM and is supposed to give the rider a little taste of the tests cars go through at the GM proving grounds.) They would likely look very simular to they cars they have now but would be updated and able to perform better --- perhaps even having a non rider car that goes backwards and rides right beside one of the passenger cars at the same speed.

Just my 2 cents.

I can't imagine with the problems that TT has experienced with reliability that General Motors is too pleased with the affiliation.

Test Track is down for maintenance/tech problems more often than my brand new 97 Camero Z-28 was.. and it turned out to be a LEMON under California law!

Test Track will not be getting a Cars overlay... Instead, a new ride using Test Track system will go into Disneyland and have a Cars theme... Have no fear people...

back to the have no fear statment test track will remain the same but some upgrades will be added but on micechat there is some concept art for cars in DCA the ride vehicles look like test track's but there is a cars themeing to the ride from the concept it looks like when McQueen and Sally are racing through the mountain side to the wheel well and yes i did see dual tracks so it is the racve one vehicle is Sally Blue and the other McQueen Red.

Exactly, that ride was a problem from the day they broke ground. Look how long it took for the thing to finally open. And as CanadianGuy said, the thing is down for repairs an awful lot. I say take it down and put back the old GM ride. {check the scrap yards for the old parts}
