Test Track not worth the wait

No ride worth 30 min. Miss the old version of TT. Hate when they spend money changing attractions that aren't broken (Wishes, TT, Soarin) but keep things that are boring and antiquated (Country Bears, Tiki Room, Muppets, Indiana Jones).

Test track lost a lot of it's appeal with each update, I am afraid. Still, it is a must do for everyone at least once and some do really like the thrill of the ride. As a veteran, it is not worth a long wait for me, but 25 mins or less and I am ok with it.

We used to love the original version. Since the re imagining not so much. The ride elements all made sense before. Now you just ride through with very little context. Designing a car doesn't do much for me.

Think about the old version. Ask people what they liked about it then, and you got various responses like getting accidentally sprayed with the acid, the cold and hot room, the wall prior to the high speed run. Now it is pretty much the fast part at the end is the only fun part.

I really enjoyed the old version it just became outdated as technology in the car world caught up. I still miss it it had its quirky nature to it. And you did actually feel like you were part of the car testing experience in the various rooms.

The designing of the cars is fun IMO though when we were there in 2017 and rode it during evening EMH they had those turned off and it was still fun enough. The downside is that they made the designing of the cars intertwined with the theming so without them to some the ride is going to lose some of its shine.

As far as Radiator Springs yes I really enjoyed that in 2019 but the wait can be very long there too and malfunctions occur too. The interior parts to it are loosely themed and just designed to take up time. I think that's what I miss most about the old test track that you feel now it's more filler rather than part of the whole experience. Although for Radiator Springs going to the tire shop at least gives the illusion you're preparing for a race (the paint part is meh to me).

Rode Test Track last week. Without the pre-show letting you design your own car, the ride is kind of baffling. For first timers, I am sure they come off the ride with a "what the heck was that" attitude. Sure the high speed trip at the end is fun, but everything leading up to it is just erratic. Wouldn't waste an hour waiting for this ride right now.
That's why FPs must come back.

The ride doesn't make a lot of sense without the design part. Also the room with all the screens looks sad now.

It’s also such a poor use of the ride system. Radiator Springs and journey to the center of the earth are unquestionably top 10 Disney rides in the world. Test track is just mediocre and mostly feels like you’re riding around in a giant warehouse

Agreed, designing car was best part. Me and my son would always build the fastest one we could. Then the little stuff at the end that lets you drive your car around is cool. Without that part it's just a crappy roller coaster chocked full of GM propaganda.

I'd agree that RSR and JttCotE are both superior to Test Track (even in it's original form). But, to be fair, those attractions built upon the foundation that the Test Track ride system made possible.

This ride kinda confuses me these days. I rode it back in the day when the point really was "Test Track" and then I rode it once with the car design kiosks, but that just felt like stuff to keep people busy in line and had literally no payoff. Ride is the exact same no matter what you do with a car design before hand. Now you're saying that it no longer has the acid spray, hot/cold rooms or the run up to a wall that opens at the last second? What keep the line consistently 1+ hour every single day?

I find it a must do at all times. Most of the time I try for the single rider line anyway (which I know is currently not running) and you don't get all the design car details with that.

I still think the old version was much better!

I think if you hadn't ever done the attraction before it is odd without the car design. My husband was in the category of LOVED it before the update. When we went to Disneyland he LOVED it as a Cars attraction too. I don't want to wait long for it either, not worth it to me.

Editing to add: We also prefer Soarin' with the old show instead of the new one, black speck on the screen and all lol!

20 minutes is my max for most rides, including Test Track. There have been trips we haven't even been on since the waits were too long or it shut down. When my son was younger he liked it but it's just eh for me.
