Our son just turned 3 and is 38 1/2 inches tall without shoes. He should be 40 inches with shoes by next trip. Should he ride Test Track? He like Goofy's rollercoaster. I don't want to push him, but he loves watching the cars "zoom" by. Your opinions please.

My daughter is tall for her age and rode test track when she was 3. she loved it...and she also did the "elevator" ride as we called TOT that year. She liked it and is looking forward to going back on it next week.

My DS was also 3 his first time on TT and TOT. He loved TT. TOT, however, was a little rough. He literally didn't speak for 3 hours after the ride. I thought I had made my son mute from fear! Fortunately (and surprisingly), the next day, he was begging to go back to "the elevator ride." He's 6 now, and we ride them almost weekly. :goodvibes

There was a thread that discussing the height requirements and one author stated that the line height was actually 41". I am SOOO hoping this is not fully correct because my 3yo will be 40 1/2" with shoes on...missing it by 1/2" would be such a bummer. Can anyone clarify this???

They are very strict about the height requirement. When my son was 4 he was right at the 40 inch mark. He rode everything with the 40 inch requirement and then on the last day a CM at BTMRR stopped him and pulled out a business card and passed it over his head and since the card passed under the bar he would not let me on. Literally, turned us away after running a business card between his head and the measuring pole. I was not a happy camper.

I had my two recently turned four year old twins on it, our girl loved it, our boy didn't. Now he was still shell shocked from a couple of other rides. I think he would have liked it if he hadn't been on the others first, plus we rode it at night, so that might have been part of it.

My DD was (and still is) very tall for her age. She rode Test Track and ToT when she was 3 and loved them both. My other DD is closer to average height and needed a little extra "lift" to go on the rides. We put some gel inserts in her shoes to insure she'd hit the height requirement.

Our son had just turned 4 when he first rode TT and he was in love with it. It is not terribly rough or extreme in my opinion, but the braking sections can be a bit jerky.

My kids are both really tall and rode TT at 3 and loved it. If you ask me it is easier than Goofys.

Do any of the height restriction rides have a height stick out front to test before you walk on the ride? I've heard stories about people who ride some, but are denied on others because they don't make the height even though they did on other rides. With that in mind...I'd like to measure my DD before we're in line so she doesn't have the letdown when we get there...

If the ride has Fastpass, the CM checking fastpasses at the queue entrance will have a measuring stick.

My 3 yo granddaugther rode test track, Soarin, and Splash Mountain on her last trip (Aug 08). She was OK on all three, but she does not like SnowWhite's adventure, nor Goofy's barnstormer (though she's been on both several times). We had no idea she was even tall enough and hadn't even planned to have her ride, but was curious and checked to see how far she was from the height indicator and she was over. We were surprised. She did OK on Soarin, but she's not a fan of fireworks, so the end made her a little nervous (we had forgotten about that part).

Not flaming anyone, just wanted to say, the height requirements are in place due to safety issues. If your child is shorter than considered safe for a ride than you probably would rather they not participate in that particular ride. However, if a business card's thickness is all that is between your child and the required height I doubt the child's safety would be a concern. :goodvibes

We took the family to WDW in September. My son at the time was 2 1/2 (he'll be 3 in January) and hit the 40" mark. He rode it TT 4 times in one day. We actually have a picture of him with his hands in the air during the ride. He also rode SM and Dinosaur.

I WISH I would have been that tall at 3. Im 21 and I stand right around 5 feet tall ha. I say go for it! If he's really into it as it seems. Its really no faster than a car on the highway. If he freaks out then deal with that later, he'll be fine :goodvibes kids are pretty durable.

Our 5 yr old twins really liked it but were like "is that it?" I think they expectred more. Now the Dinosaur ride in AK (I think) Oh boy. won't be doing that again anytime soon. Freaked them out something fierce!

If he is tall enough I would definitely give it a try. It's a great time, and even though it does go fast and is a bit jerky, I think it's quite tame (and I'm a huge ride chicken, and this is in my top 5).

Totally agree...safety comes first! But apparently there is a thin line between safe and anal and the thickness is a business card. If I thought my child would be in any dange what so ever I wouldn't even appempt the ride. IF you feel confident that you child is tall enought and measures AT the line, but the CM "pulls out a business card" I would go back when another Cm is on duty. Sorry that's how I feel.:confused3
