Test track at rope drop while Soarin is down

How bad do you think it will be? Test Track is a must do, as it's the first time our little guy will be tall enough and he's been dying to ride it for years. This is a short trip, and our only Epcot day will just be the morning, and we'll hop to MK in the afternoon. There is nothing else at Epcot we would really use a FP for, and unless something goes wrong, we'll be at the gates before opening.

So my options are to save FP for MK and get three good rides in the afternoon, or use them at Epcot to insure we're not standing in line for Test Track forever.

And, we don't know whether the CMs will actually WALK guests who are there at rope drop to the attraction or not.

Under any other circumstance, that's what we'd do. But I'm having a hard time trading 3 MK FP just for Test Track....

I thought about this too... We're staying on site, so I would hope at 60 days we could still get FP for it.... But maybe not first thing? Which would still slow us down getting to MK.

What would you do?

I would do what you're doing. You'll get better use out of 3 FPs in the MK afternoon than to use them as 1 FP and lose the other 2. It'll be busy at Rope Drop and everyone will be heading there, but it's rope drop, and as such, only a fraction of the line will build that will amass later in the day. All that will be different is more people will pile into the line earlier, which means it'll build faster than normal. If you're one of the early ones you'll still get thru the line in short order. I would probly even wait out the line for a 2nd riding. Maybe it's built to an hour after your first run thru... but who cares you've got time on your hands if this is the main ride you're interested in here.

Save your FP in my opinion. Get to EPCOT before opening and go to TT first thing. Even if you are a little late, I would say a small wait for TT isn't so bad. The queue is entertaining and interactive to pass the time. Best of luck

With Soar'in being down...........TT is all there is for RD...............so at 9:30 what next?..........that you couldn't get with a FP. I think my plan will be if I get lucky and can get a TT FP.........do that otherwise...........wait until World Showcase is open.

When is the Frozen ride and M&G scheduled to open?............that, in a weird way, could help

So true We're still fairly young and fit. Maybe a little Chariots of Fire theme music shall be in order for rope drop.

I'm no Disney expert and others with what has happened when other big rides have closed will know better. However, I wonder if it won't be that much worse. Like people are saying, there isn't going to be all the much to do as far as popular rides so maybe more people will stay away from Epcot in general. I'm not saying it will be slow, but maybe people without hoppers that really only went for a couple rides (and who have kids that dislike WS) will not waste (for lack of better word) a park day in something they don't feel will take up their entire day.

Maybe just wishful thinking on my part.

I think the biggest problem might be all of the people who just don't know. They will still show up and discover not that much to do if they want rides.

We have park hoppers, but only because they are included on military salute tickets. If we had to pay more for hoppers, we wouldn't get them, and would skip Epcot all together this trip. My little guy would get over missing test track.

Any idea when Soarin will reopen, we are going first week in June. Any chance it may be open by then? (fingers crossed)

Also, I heard a rumor awhile back about BTM being closed next year for a long time, any news on that?

I still say rope drop is the best bet (although all bets are off Xmas week and the prime spring break/president's week times). Now, getting there are rope drop usually gets me on the ride in 5-10 minutes. So even if it's 30 minutes when soarin is down that really isn't all that bad. Of course, if you're not hopping that day, just get the FP. Very curious as to whether you'll have problems even at 30 days. With both rides up you can still usually get either ride a few days in advance. No guarantees - but I'd suspect you'll be fine at 30 days. We'll see soon.

Just did TT rope drop this morning. I would NOT do that with small kids. The wall of people rope dropping it was scary. We had an early ADR and were already inside waiting when they came at us. The wait was over 75 minutes at 9:15 when we got out of the ride. 90 minutes soon after.

Later in the day the crowd for it is not as bad, I'd actually go to it in the evening instead.

We do TT at RD all of the time with our son, 9 now. We usually are the first or second group of people at the turnstile though. Be sure to have everyone go to the bathrooms outside the gates ~30 minutes before park opening, if you get there very early. Otherwise, you might be like us in the TT line, when someone says they have to go TT
