Morning!

Just wanted to remind anyone whose thinking of using their clubcard rewards for eurotunnel that come December 6th you'll only get 3x the value instead of the current 4x. Vouchers must be redeemed within 6 months, however the trip does not have to be within 6 months so you're best to exchange now and book within the next 6 months if you're planning to use them next year.

Also as we are planning to use ours for our trip next November, does anyone know how far in advance you can usually book November trips?? As if I exchange my rewards now I'll have to book by May.

hiya
i wud have thought you wud have no problem booking by may for end of the year!!
i am unsure what to do - if only clubcard points cud be exchanged for fuel too lol
its nice and quick to fly, but i can save money by driving (a little lol after hotel, fuel & toll charges lol)

eeeeeeeeeek i need to make a decision lol

Thanks Nikki, I thought it should be ok but we've always gone Eurostar in the past.

I know what you mean about the ease of flying. Although we live 15 minutes from the local airport and the only time we have flown we flew from Cardiff as I got bargain flights! lol

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Chris gets his long awaited company car by then so we don't have to fork out too much as my petrol guzzler used a tank (plus another tenner at the services on the way back!) just going to Ashford and back!! but flights still work out more expensive even with 2 nights at the premier inn on top!

The best thing about changing my points for Eurotunnel rewards is that I have just about enough for 2 return trips!!! :) plus we can bring back all sorts of goodies!!

ro - that is my thinking - that we can fill the car, rather than limited to hand luggage!! BUT, with only me & the boys, id have to do all the driving - hence flying being more of a break lol ;) our flights r about 250 atm for 3 of us, and then there is transfers on top..... but its def 2 tanks of fuel (and a bit extra) to drive, along with being 4 hrs from home to folkestone, and then 3 hrs in france, and 2 hotels............ and of course more time off school, which i dont wanna do.....
decisions......... lol i need to win the lottery!!!

yeah it's the me having to do all the driving that's putting me off as due to insurance complications Chris can't drive my car (dagnabbit!!) ick, 4 hours, it's about 3.15 from here and that's just about enough for me!

Are you still thinking about going in May?? what about going May half term? the prices were the same. It was one of the weeks I was looking at but seeing as Skye doesn't start school til next year I should make the most of going term time!!

decisions, decisions eh?!!

I could do with a lottery win too!! Ooooh the trip I'd have then... lol

cant do may - ds1 has his sats so its lookin either july, oct or nov lol ironically, oct (same sort of time as we did this yr) is lookin the cheapest!!

oh, i just dont know lol

i do find eurotunnel very easy, and uncomplicated, but yes, its the driving part that gets to me lol

its the time on either side (hotel overnight on the way there and back) which puts me off driving as well - because thats another at least one day you have to add to the trip (I could at a push leave the East Mids after school in the afternoon and be at Ashford for bedtime!). Whereas if I fly, its a commuter flight in the early morning, and an evening flight back, making the most of my time at DLP, and home without having to split up the journey with a hotel stop on the way there and back.

if there were 4 of us travelling, I think I'd probably try to drive though, as it would work out a fair bit cheaper I reckon. But with usually 2 of us and getting flights for around £50 each return, flying is the most convenient and quickest way of getting there and back.
If the advertised Eurostar price of £87 per person return from Nottingham to DLP is available for our next trip, that could work too, but as I can only book it about 3 months in advance (the East Mids to London part of the journey isn't released until then) I'm not holding out much hope that price will still be so low.

Plus of course, I never have enough Tesco vouchers for any kind of crossing lol :rotfl:.

whats that elaine?? that eurostar price wud be good lol
totally agree bout the time before and after...... it wud be the same for us too....

my big prob is i thought id like to go weds to sat so get 3 quieter days and leave on that sat - but bmi sat flight is 10.15 in the morn, so means havin thurs to sun, and then the flight back is better time, but more expensive.... did look at flybe, but their hand luggage size is smaller than bmi and i will need every cm lol

oh to live on the south coast ;):lmao:

yep that saturday flight with bmi baby is what prompted me to fly from Luton with Easyjet - better choice of flight times, cheaper than bmi baby, and its a really easy drive down the M1 to junction 10a. It takes me about an hour more to get to Luton compared to East Mids (about 20 minutes from my house), but its a very straightforward journey, and we stayed in a nearby travelodge £9 room the night before, just so I didn't have to get up at 2am to catch the flight ;).
