My girls and I LOVE Tervis Tumblers and bought quite a few on our 2012 cruise. Do they still have Tervis tumblers on the ship? Any idea what the designs are these days? We are going on a spring break cruise and would love to get some more.

They had a new 2013 design on a 24 oz tumbler (that was the first time I had seen the larger one). Also the CC one in the smaller size.

Cool! Thanks for sharing! I have the CC one from our March 2012 cruise, but not the larger 2013 one! I'm liking that one (& adding it to my souvenir list for our upcoming November 2013 cruise)!!!

So excited to see they have Tervis!! Thanks so much for the photos - will definitely be looking for and getting one in October

The larger 2013 ones were on sale during our August Cruise for $14.99/each. I bought 3 at that price b/c we love Tervis Tumblers. They may already have a newer version by now since those were on sale in August.

We also purchased the Castaway Cay one. If I recall correctly it was $19.99.

To anyone planning on getting one, three bits of advice!

1. If you're planning on getting one, go somewhere like Bed, Bath & Beyond, or even tervis.com, and buy the handles. The handles are Very Good Things. See #3 for the reason.

2. when you see them on the ship/CC, buy them. they might be gone or you might never get back to the store.

3. If you don't buy the handles, be CAREFUL with sunscreen. If you search "tervis sunscreen" on your fave search engine you'll get sad sad stories of ruined Tervis cups. If you look on tervis.com you'll see an FAQ about sunscreen. Many sunscreens ruin the look of the plastic. Makes it all cloudy. You think it's just grease that will wash off, but it won't. It'll look like that forever.

And that makes you want to book a cruise that would ultimately be the Most Expensive Tervis Cup EVER.

So get the handles AND don't handle the cups with sunscreeny hands. I'd post a picture of what happened to my cup (the big 2013 one shown in this thread) but it depresses me too much to see what I did to my cup and it's been in hiding.

bumbershoot, I feel your pain!! We ruined my cruise tervis and my husband's Saints tervis this year at the beach. Wish I'd known beforehand, and I would have been more careful. I told him those are forever relegated to being our beach cups.

Bumbershoot- thanks for the information. Now I know what that spot is on the tumbler I bought on Castaway Cay. Luckily, it is only as big as a big thumbprint, but I couldn't figure out what in the world happened.

Hey! Thanks for the explanation in number 3. We took our Tervis tumblers on our last cruise for convenience, and I have been trying so hard to figure out why one of them looked so terrible. Appreciate the explanation! Gonna have to invest in the handle.

So should I get the handles for the 24 oz cup or 16 oz cup? Or one of each???

Depends on which tumbler you want to get! They don't fit the *other* size, so that's a real answer. :) We found the handles after I'd ruined my cup, but just before DS and DH decided they needed cups and ordered some Marvel themed Tervis online. I REALLY like the handles and when I think back to the day I ruined my cup, the handle would have made the cup SO much easier to hold. I was at the park on a sunny day and the cup was so slippery even before I put the sunscreen on DS and then, obviously, accidentally, on my cup.

It's awful, isn't it?

Now, if the Saints cup is something they can replace, they WILL replace it. Use Tervis's guarantee form! Their FB page says they will help b/c of sunscreen, and they wrote back to me twice telling me to use the guarantee.

But all they can do is TRY to fix mine; they obviously can't replace a cruise cup. But the Saints cup might have hope!

Do they just have tumblers or do they have the kind with lids?

Lids and straws.

Glad it's so small. :goodvibes

When we got the tumblers from tervis.com, they had attached labels that clearly warned about the sunscreen risk.

To be honest I got my cruise tumbler after the fact thanks to an AWESOME fellow DIS'er, and I was so excited when I got the package I can't tell you if it had something attached to it or not. So I don't know if the ones sold through the cruise have that warning. I bought a Grand Floridian tumbler and I don't remember it having a warning on it. They have a whole section on their website about it, though!

On their FB page this summer, they put something like "who thinks Tervis and summer go together?" and tons of responses were negatively and a bit angrily all about the sunscreen issue.

handles

Naked cups with big handle and smaller handle. The cup on the right has its handle on b/c I can't seem to take it off.

Cups with handles on!

The handles make it so easy to carry them around, especially the big one. And at least in ours, the seal when you close the top is so good that I haven't had a spill yet when dangling a cup from a finger. (your mileage may vary)

The lids. Now, those are the ones we got directly from Tervis, but it's the same as the cruise one (only my cruise lid is way bigger). My lid is just icky right now, and I don't want to take a picture of it. :)

I can't seem to capture the problem with my tumbler, but it's just cloudy and weird. Not sparkly and bright like it was. And it truly looks like if I just took a Dobie pad to it it would come right off, but it does not.

Look for my cruise trip report...most expensive Tervis tumbler EVER...seriously...coming relatively soon. :sad2:

Thanks for the sunscreen warning, I have a Tervis water bottle I was going to bring to hold water for DD's formula. I'll keep it in the diaper bag away from rogue sunscreen spray (I hate spray suncreen but that is for another thread).
