WASHINGTON (CNN) -- With the clock ticking down on the 48-hour deadline for Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and his sons to leave the country, the United States and the world are bracing for war -- and the possibility of terrorist retaliation.

The NCAA is considering postponing the start of the men's and women's college basketball tournaments if war breaks out, The Associated Press reports. The first men's game is Tuesday night in Dayton, Ohio, with the rest of the first round starting Thursday. The women's tournament starts Saturday.

I hate to say this, but the ONLY reason the NCAA is thinking of postponing the toruney is MONEY and tv ratings. They know that the networks can't cover them and the war at the same time. Pretty sad that they would mess with these kids lives for the TV dollar, but I am not surprised.

I hate to say it, but Carol I agree. This morning I heard CBS had already told the NCAA that they would show war coverage instead of the tournament and that CBS was shopping around its scheduled tournament coverage to ESPN and ESPN2. If a deal can't be made there coverage will be shifted to Viacom cable stations like BET and MTV . The NCAA saw ratings going down the tubes.
