Terrible service at Grand Floridian

Whatever manager is correct issue is it should have been brought up after the first incident!

Of course it should have, but the OP didn't do that. However, the OP should bring all the issues up to the GM, if he chooses to do so. It doesn't look like the OP is looking for anything, other than to tell the GM the issues.

I think the only time I complained to front desk staff (not at Disney) is when there was some weird bug crawling around in the bathroom. I took a picture of it, killed it, and then let the front desk know (showed them the picture) so that they would know to clean it more thoroughly once we checked out.

Sounds like the experience Pete Werner (disboards owner) had at the GF recently.

I had the opportunity to stay there. I'm glad I tried it but it pretty far down my list of places to stay again.
Oh, crap, surely they wouldn't want that to happen to him of all people.

I’m already gone. I had to leave early this morning.
Okay, then: wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com
Why won't you elaborate? Many here wanna know the issues
WHAT ARE THE ISSUES!!! ????? please all this talking aobut nothing is killing me
Care to elaborate on what the three issues are?
.
Why? So we can tear apart every aspect of every incident and tell the OP what they did wrong and how they should have handled it? That's fine when an OP reveals everything up front... ;)

OP I think you should email about what happened since you've left now. I don't think you should elaborate here, people seem heated for no reason. Things happen on vacation and its frustrating when you want to just relax and enjoy your vacation. For future, if something happens at a restaurant it's good to say something before you leave the restaurant.

FWIW my personal experience is that Disney does try to make it right. We had a pretty lackluster stay at the yacht club and they comped us 5 free days at any deluxe as a result.

Love loved our lunch at Grand Floridian cafe, haven’t stayed there yet because it seemed a less ‘joy’ filled place- more stuffy and stoic..we go for casual and fun- it just doesn’t work for us. When I hit 70- it might be ideal. Hope you get some fixes before you leave.
We have stayed at the GF and the GFV a few times and had wonderful stays every time. It's not the least bit stuffy. It's not the All Stars or Pop Century, but it is a very nice deluxe resort that can be a lot of fun.

I would like to know what happened not to criticize OP as others seem to but so that I can decide if those are the sorts of things that would sway me on whether or not to stay at GF (it is expensive, so I want to know if I would be bothered if it happened to me). I am not saying OP shouldn't feel bothered, only that I might not care personally, or might care a lot, and it'd be helpful to know before booking there.

For example, there was another post recently complaining about the fact that their room at Port Orleans Riverside was not clean upon arrival (there was a poop thing...it was GROSS) and that it was not ready exactly at 3pm, among other things. The not clean part would be a nightmare for me, but I really couldn't care less about when the room is ready since I am happy to go chill and do other stuff until my room is available.

I’ve never stayed at AllStars or Pop..just Contemporary, Poly, OKW, POR, and AKL..all of those had an exciting vibe we didn’t get the few times we visited the GF

I like to sit in the lobby in the evening and listed to the orchestra play. It's a different vibe, but it still isn't stuffy and hoity toity.

To you. It's not stuffy or hoity toity to you That's great. To some it is both. Neither side is wrong. Those who find it stuffy and/or hoity toity should likely just pick different resorts. Beauty of it is with so many different options, everyone is bound to find their right fit.

I've spent time there and it doesn't feel like that to me. I see kids running around, parents smiling, people doing the same stuff as at all the other resorts. Relatives of mine felt that it was stuffy and not for them, until I pointed out people with non-fancy luggage, kids melting down, etc etc. They had to look and see what I saw, in order to feel more comfortable. But it wasn't a one-shot deal.

I was on the deluxe dining plan and the way they fix things is with more food. I didn’t need more food

While they might start, or try, to compensate with food (like if yours is inedible they'll get you a new dish), but if it's a persistent problem you can get other compensation. Of course, having the deluxe plan makes it harder to get cash compensation, but at the very least you've made them aware of the issues.

The hotel manager (unless it was at GF) is probably not the best person to handle- the restaurant manager is who you should have immediately on the spot asked for.

Agreed.

Oh, crap, surely they wouldn't want that to happen to him of all people.

IMO he has had some odd opinions over the years, so I'm not sure that they would care all that much.

I've been relaxing in the Lobby there before or after a meal, and you get people who are genuinely having fun with their families, but sometimes you do get those (often wedding parties) where they are all dressed up, and you can see they are looking out the corner of their eye to see who is looking at them!

I've not stayed at GF before, our Deluxe of choice is Beach Club :)

Ive just read 3 pages about............ ?? I and the rest of us in this post must be barmy. Why are we reading about this. ??? NOTHING has been revealed. Im off to rearrange my cutlery drawer and count the blades of grass on my lawn.

Yeah I don't understand the lack of details. My initial instinct is that they should be talking to the Restaurant Duty Managers.

Once at Yachtsman, I asked the Podium CMs if I could speak to the manager on the way out. My server came over after hearing the request and asked if we were ok, and I explained that I wanted to compliment him to the manager directly. The DM came out ready to be apologetic and was pleasantly surprised that we were complimenting the service and food! They more used to dealing with Complaints than Compliments.

I didn't care who was looking at me when I was there for my wedding, although I did like all the comments I got telling me I looked like a princess. I've also eaten at Victoria and Albert's a few times and come very dressed up and no one even looked twice. I get a fancy vibe from the hotel, but not one where you can't relax and walk around in t-shirt and shorts. I've stayed a few times and didn't get a stuffy view.
