i think this is hysterical. We stayed at a hotel a month ago. I wrote a review on Trip Advisor because the hotel was really old and outdated and the pictures make it look a lot different so I felt that people should be warned what you see if not really what you are going to get.
We love the Virginia Beach area so when we saw a Groupon for 85.00 a night I jumped at it.
We got to the hotel and quickly realized that 85.00 a night was a rip off. We were supposed to have a 2 room suite. We got 2 rooms but there was no door between them so watching TV or doing anything was impossible. Linens were ill fitting and really cheap. The mattresses were like rocks. The bedroom was so small that one bed was pushed all the way against a wall. The TV was a relic.
The hotel is called a Conference center but there was no high speed internet. The bar didn't have a bartender during Happy Hour and the poor hostess struggles pouring a beer. On a Saturday night there were only 2 people in the restaurant which tells you a LOT.
I could go on and on. It was just a really outdated hotel.
The general manager read my review and contacted me. I was really curious about what she had to say because everything I wrote was my true experience I had no hidden agenda is writing the review.
Here is where I think it gets funny. She offered to give me a "great rate" to come back there. I am never going back to that hotel but just for the sake of curiosity I asked her what the rate is....it of course depends on when i am coming. I threw out July. Now I know that the rates from May and July are going to be really different but here is what she offered me. 99-179.00 depending on the day.
She said they replaced the beds did a lot of painting and resurfaced the pool since I was there so it's a step in the right direction.
I asked what the regular rates are and she said 235.00 to 450.00 a NIGHT for that place.
I regularly stay in Virginia Beach and we try different hotels and those are the going rates for hotels right on the strip this hotel was not. I guess if they can get it good for them but I would feel terrible for anyone paying that much for that hotel.
I know someone is going to ask it was The Virginia Beach Resort Hotel and Conference Center.
