Terminator Question

My friend and I are taking our 5 kids (ages 13, 13, 12, 10 and 10) to Universal and IoA for a couple of days in December. I have seen the Terminator 3-D show, but they haven't. It's SO cool and I know they would love it! But, none of the kids have seen the movie and I think they would enjoy the show so much more if they've seen the movie. Well, it's been ages since I've seen the movie, but I did see that it's rated R. Normally, my kids don't see rated R movies, but I'm wondering (since y'all are Universal fans and I'm SURE you've seen the movie) if the movie would be too much for kids that age.

What do you think??? It's pretty pertinent to the show, don't you think??? Would you let your kids see it at that age???

Thanks for your input!!!

I let mine see it (ages 14, 12 & 10)....it was more for violence...and by today's movie standards...I think it would be a PG-13.

Maybe you should watch it again first. But honestly...I don't think it was that bad.

Not sure why it would be rating R either. It has violence like every other movie out there but my kids saw it at your kids ages, maybe younger even.

The movie T2? or the other ones?

T2 is not that violent compared to all these new flashy-give-children-violent-thoughts-in-there-head-movies, but I think they can handle it.

I personally don't think that you need to see the Terminator movies to get the attraction. The pre show does a decent job explaining the characters.

I did tell the kids that the mom/kid were good guys, and the liquid metal cop guy was the bad guy.

well i may be biased but i personally have loved the terminator movies since the 4th grade (or around 10). my dad let me watch it and i was fine, in fact in only triggered my love for the terminator and arnold schwarzenegger.:earseek:

Thanks for your help on this question! We watched the first Terminator this weekend and my girls really liked it! They are asking when we will see the second one.

Actually, it wasn't really the violence that made me uncomfortable, but the sex scene made me squirm a little with my kids there.... :guilty:

I think we're going to watch the second one tonight! Watching these gets me even MORE excited about our trip!

Thanks again for your input!!
