Terminals at YYZ and Customs

Hello Everyone, I'm looking for some Toronto airport help .

We are flying into Terminal 1 and flying out of Terminal 2 to Phoenix. My question is at which terminal do we pick up our luggage and and which terminal do we go through customs?

My second question....on our way back from Phoenix we arrive in Toronto at 9pm, then flying back home to Moncton at 630am the next day....so we are staying overnight at hotel by the airport. I assume we take our luggage with us but do we get in the regular lines the next morning to check in our luggage or do we go in another line?

Thank you for all your help, sometimes the signage at the airport is not the best so I want to plan as much as possible in advance!

You will clear US customs in terminal 2. Your luggage will automatically be sent to terminal 2, for you to pick up, so you can take it through US customs.


On the return (since you'll be overnighting in TO), when you get your luggage at Canada customs, bring it with you to the hotel. The next morning (assuming you already have your boarding pass for your flight to Moncton), you can proceed to the baggage drop off line (and get rid of your baggage).
