What is this restaurant like? We recently ate at a Japanese restaurant where you sat at a grill/table with about 10 other people and the chef chopped the veggies & meats and cooked your meals right in front of you.

He juggled his knives and did tricks with the towels and his hat while he was cooking.

Is Teppanyaki like this?

It is pretty much the same as the Benihanna chain. I think there are 8 seats to a table. I've eaten at Teppanyaki twice and thought the local restaurant's chefs did a better performance. Plus the food is twice as much at Teppanyaki.

If you want to save some money, try eating lunch at here. The menu is basically the same but the price and portions are scaled back. We did lunch there and they even let our two younger children split a children's order.

You sit in chairs around the grill. Be forewarned that if you like space this is not the place to go. We were crammed in between two families of 3 and while the meal was good it was a bit uncomfortable. We felt we really couldn't carry on a conversationn sitting so close to other diners. I knew we would be seated with another family but thought we would have a little more space. Since you are sitting at a grill it can also get pretty warm and we were already hot from strolling around WS. We ate their at lunch. Best sirloin I've had in a long time.

I have to say that when we went in 2001, this was one of the restaurants that I was REALLY looking forward to, but it turned out to be the biggest disappointment out of every place we ate. The food just wasn't that great, and there was almost none of the fun, fancy knifework that you would expect. It was literally just about the same as watching someone at a barbecue grill. I'm sure that it varies depending on who's cooking at your table, but if you want a good show, you might want to ask to be seated at the table of the most experienced chef there.

Of our party of four...I was the only one pleased with our lunch here...I had the vegetarian selection.
As some posters have already pointed out....space is extremely tight here...barely enough room for your plate and beverage.
The portions are not as large as other WDW restaurants.
The "entertainment" was totally lacking in our "room"....we could view two chefs simultaneously.
We were definitely disappointed in the experience overall...we don't totally regret dining here.....once however was enough.

We ate here on Christmas Eve. There were 12 of us, so we split up 7 and 5. We had a very nice chef who posed for pictures and did lots of tricks. He laughed while we sang Christmas carols. Everyone in our party enjoyed the food - I would definitely go back.

Does anyone know if ketchup is available there?? My DS will eat grilled meat with ketchup even though he doesn't like rice or stir fry (the rest of us do though). We would like to try more Epcot resturants next trip.

If the need for ketchup is the only requirement, bring your own packet.

We have eaten there on several occasions and we have always been happy. Can I say that it is the best Japanese Steakhouse I have ever been to, No, but it is still a good deal for the money if you accept the fact that nothing is cheap in WDW.

We will probably skip it. Sounds like O'Hana's would be the better choice?
