Are any of these places good I can't decide which one to do! :confused3
any opinions would be great. I was thinking the atmosphere at teppanyaki would be cool don't they kind of put on a cooking show but we also LOVE chinese food but DH would also be in his glory w/ the all you can eat skillet plus canyon sounds like fun for dd7 & ds4. As you can see I need Help. Thank you.

We ate at the Teppanyaki last September and it was very good. It is very similar to any of the Japanese steakhouses you would have at home. We had so much to eat. My friend had the shrimp and steak and she couldn't even eat half of her steak. You get a small salad and rice with your meal. They also have all the vegs with bean sprouts that they grill with your meats. The chef we had was very good...put on quite a good show. He even posed for us for our pictures. We plan on trying Whispering Canyons this year after hearing everyone's reviews and pics of the skillet and all the fun there! Here are a couple pictures from our trip.

We ate at Teppanyaki a few years ago and enjoyed both the food and the show. One of the kids wanted to go there again this year, but we decided to try some different places. We did the Whispering Canyon this time. We were there for the five o'clock cattle call. It is a place that the kids will probably enjoy. Most of the wait people seemed like they were having a good time. Someone at the next table must have asked for a refill on their beverage as he had a huge glass in front of him. Most of us did the skillet dinner and it was okay. The salad that came first was very good. Then we got chicken, ribs, corn, baked beans and sausage in the skillet. We could ask for seconds with any or all of them. If you have a Famous Dave's in your area, the food is similar.

Don't deprive DD7 and DS4 of the wonderful experience at Whispering Canyon Cafe. It is one of the most Disney of restaurants, and the food's good too! Teppanyaki is good, but not much better than Japanese steak houses back home. Nine Dragons is nowhere near as good as the Chinese restaurants back home.

If you are going to be at Epcot on the day in question, I would stay there and eat at Teppanyaki (our family LOVED our meal there). If you are going to be in MK, swing over to WCC (again, our experience there was very good). IMHO, the most important consideration to take into account for meal planning is, what's closest to where you will be at meal time? People underestimate the amount of time and the amount of "wear and tear" on the family that it takes to have to drop everything and rush off (and stress over having all the transportation run just right) to get to an ADR that's totally across the WDW property. Proximity should be your first guide....

The day in question I have a "FREE DAY" scheduled (hang around the pool if weather is nice) then we will move on to mk for emh after dinner. It would be easy & quick to get from epcot to mk right? I have really tried to keep ADRs in the area that we are already in.

I consider myself a Hibachi-restaurant connisseur. Teppanyaki is a cut-below the chain restaurants - Benihana, Gasho of Japan, etc. The food is very bland in comparison. I would save the hibachi experience for another place.

In my experience, the teppanyaki is about the same as any big chain like Benihanas (maybe slightly lower quality for slightly higher price.) It's a fun show and the food is okay.

Haven't tried Whispering Canyon--yet. We have adrs for our next trip, and it sounds like fun.

9 Dragons gets emphatic thumbs-downs from my entire extended family. Some of us are Chinese food experts, having dined all over China, Taiwan, & Singapore, and some of us are not, but we all agree that 9 Dragons was revolting.

My vote is for Whispering Canyon. You can do Chinese anywhere, and I'll bet your area has a Japanese place you could visit too. Whispering Canyon is, however, Disney specific and a lot of fun. The kids will certainly enjoy it, as long as they're ready for the antics of the staff. We went twice on our last trip (we stayed at WL so it was really convenient) and my kids can't wait to go again on the upcoming trip. It's the one place they really wanted to go back too.

I'd say go for WCC. We ate there for our trip last Sept and plan to go back this year. I have a DD 9 and DS 5. They had alot of fun at WCC. DS5 dropped his spoon on the floor and needed another one. This is what our waitress brought to the table..........(along with another "regular" spoon, of course). She was yelling all the way from the kitchen area....SOMEBODY DROPPED THEIR SPOON!!!). It was fun.

We all enjoyed the food and the dessert as well.

Keep in mind that Teppenyaki and Nine Dragons are way back in World Showcase. So while the monorail does run between Epcot and MK, you'll have to walk all the way back to WS for dinner. It can be quite a haul! If you're planning to be in MK for EMH, WCC will be just a boat ride away from MK.

WCC IT is (I think)!!! Now i'm also considering Garden grill. But We are on DP and i think w/ a little work and paying for a couple of the kids meals we will do both :Pinkbounc Thanks for all the opinion and advice. I hate to think of what our trip would be like if I haven't learned all the stuff that I've learned on this board!! Thanks everyone!!! :thumbsup2

i've only eaten at whispering canyon, but man o man is it GOOD eating....so tasty and the skillet is delicious!

We did Whispering Canyon for the first time last Christmas week. Our ADR was scheduled for 7something on the night we pulled in to Ft. Wilderness. However, we didn't pull in until after 7 and until we set up it was almost 9. I called the restaurant and they were most gracious about taking us in at that "late" hour. We were the last ones seated for the night - and we still had GREAT food (the skillet for 3) and GREAT FUN with our server. It was one of the highlights of our trip.

You'll love it! DD and I are probably going back in August (yippee for free dining).

If you're looking for fun, Whispering Canyon, if you're looking for quality food, skip it!

For our upcoming trip, we are doing Teppanyaki and WCC among others. One of my picky eater boys may not eat at Teppanyaki but we can work around him. WCC just sounds like so much fun. :goodvibes So my vote is to do it all :thumbsup2

We absolutely love chinese food too but 9 dragons is below our standards. Its a shame as it is a beautiful restaurant but the food is sticky yucky. WDW please hire the chef from Ming Court I -Drive for 9 dragons!!! Go to Teppenyaki or WCC we are doing both next trip. :thumbsup2 Go to Ming Court for chinese it is lovely food.

My girls LOVE the entertainment at Tappanyaki, but WCC wins HANDS DOWN!!! The food is GREAT and the "entertainment" there is the best on property!!! KETCHUP!!!! My DD11 will order to cheeseburger JUST so she can ask for ketchup!!!

We never miss eating at WCC. The food is great and so is the atmosphere. We tried it over 10 years ago and we keep going back each time.

I've eaten at all three and I agree with what just about everyone has said.
9dragons - nothing I can't get at home
Teppanyaki - I do enjoy the meals there but I've had similar at home
Whispering Canyon - :thumbsup2 Defiantely the one I would pick, especially with the kids. We've had the all you can eat skillet before and truly enjoyed it. Two year ago my DH and I were down for a long weekend just the 2 of us and had dinner there one night and dessert the other three!!
Here is a picture of my son who told our server he was kind of thirsty!
