I see on the menu that they hve steamed rice and every Japanesse Steakhouse that we have been to has fried rice, is this an option or is it only steamed rice?
Fried rice isn't a traditional Japanese dish (it's Chinese, I believe), and since Teppan Edo is traditional Japanese, they don't offer it. My DH kind of balked at Teppan Edo to start with when he heard that because he loves fried rice, but it's his favorite place at WDW. You'll have so much yummy food, you'll hardly miss it!
IMHO, if you have a hibachi restaurant that you visit near your home, don't bother going to TE. I know the food is no where near as good at TE as it is at places by me. The show is nothing special and it is usually more expensive for less food than at the average hibachi restaurant.
I know there are people who love it there, it is just my opinion.
Totally agree that Teppan Edo is not that special. I have only been to a few Japanese steak houses and all of them were better than the meal we had at Teppan Edo. That's not saying the food there is bad, it's just nothing special, which I thought it would have been given the whole authentic-ness.
