Hi there - We're interested in going to Teppan Edo in Feb. Our kids will be 11, 8, 5 & 5 at the time. I've been there many times (when it was Teppan Yaki) but only once with kids (4 and 15mos.) for the Candlelight Processional back in 2002. The servers/hostesses were not thrilled with us. It felt like they didn't like that the kids were there. We did need a highchair back then. Anyway, we'd probably be seated with another party of 2. Could I get some honest opinions on whether you'd do this or not? Is it worth the trouble (feelings of guilt at potentially horning in on a date with all of my kids) of having to sit at a table with a party of 2. It is one of my favorite restaurants at Disney and we've skipped it the last few times, so I really would like to eat there. But, is it better to stay away until my kids are older?

P.S. I'm one of those people who thinks you shouldn't take little kids up to California Grill, if that shows you my comfort level with something like this.

I have been taking my son here twice a year since he was 4 yrs old. They have always been very accommodating. We are going there next week in fact. I think they will have a blast! They may even give you your own table which would be great. I say go for it! I always see children there when we go. So enjoy!

If my husband and I (we are in our 50's) were dining here, I would not be the least bit put off to be seated with your family. In fact, I would expect to be seated with children. We are in a Disney theme park after all. It is not fine dining in one of the hotels (and even there I wouldn't be bothered until your children were screaming, throwing food at me, etc).

We had a great time at Teppan Edo. We were a party of 9 (they let us all sit at one table since my DS2 was still in a high chair). My DS9, DD5 and DS2 enjoyed the chef and the food.

I would think a couple on a "date" would take care to choose a restaurant other than Teppan Edo, because there it's guaranteed that they will be seated with another party. I don't think you should worry about that. Anyone choosing Teppan Edo for a meal should be aware of the seating arrangements, and if they're not they didn't pay attention, because the reservation agents should tell them when they book.

Thank you all so much! I have been wanting to go back for so long but have held off due to the kids ages. I am going to go for it with no worries!

There are always lots of kids here! Just be sure they know how hot the grill is so they're not tempted to touch it.

We stop at Teppan Edo each year, usually with a large group, and have never had any issues. The wait staff was always accommodating and friendly, even with babies. On our last trip, we had along my 3 year old DD and 4 month old DS. We were sat at a table with another family who had small children. DD loved getting to try out her chop sticks, which they made into an "easy to use" pair for her.
