I am trying to decide which Japanese Restaurant to try
The menus look quite similiar.
Is one more traditional and the other more "hibachi" stylel like "Gasho"
Looking for using them for the CP Package

Any advice would help.
Also we have 2 children DD14 and DS11.

Thanks for any info.

Teppan Edo is your typical "japanese steakhouse"---a teppan grill sort of place, mostly for the gaijin.

Tokyo Dining is a slightly more traditional japanese restaurant. You can get teppan entrees, but they are not cooked tableside. Not great, but not bad. If you have a decent Japanese place in your town, it is probably better, but TD is oaky.

I was not excited about our Teppan Edo ADR at all, but my entire group of 8 ended up really enjoying our meal there. Yes, it is similar to your typical Japanese 'slice and dice' but with Disney service. The food quality was a notch higher, the chef was very friendly and much more entertaining, and the entire staff was so incredibly nice and accommodating. It is in my list of top 5 Disney restaurants. Try the ginger cake! It was another thing that I was really not thrilled about...until I tasted it. Wow!

1) Edo = Benihana, almost.
2) Dining = table service, cooked in kitchen.

NOTE: No pillow or floor dining.

Our kids, 12 and 10 at the time, love Teppan Edo and have requested to go back next time. It is warm back by all of the grills. The tables seat eight, so there may be more than one party sitting at the grill. We have eaten there twice. With just DH and myself, we ate with another couple and a family of four. When we took kids and DMIL we had a family of three with us.
It is highly entertaining. I would go again.

Our experience at Teppan Edo was not a good one we were seated 45mins late and we sat with a family of 4 mom dad and two spoiled boys and a couple that was a "dud", they just sat there like stone. No one had a since, of humor! The food was okay, the show was bad and the company was horrible. It seemed to me that every other table was having fun and my table was just full of frowns.

I LOVE Teppan Edo!!!! It is one of my top restaurants at Disney. This is also my son's fave place to eat. (he's 11 yrs old). My filet mignon was shockingly TASTY as heck! I loved the noodles as well. My son loved the chicken. We loved everything! I was hesitant to try the green tea pudding (kinda like a creme brulee), because i normally hate green tea. But i tried it and wow!! One of the most memorable desserts i've tried so far. SO GOOD! i'd HIGHLY recommend this place to everyone. Some chefs arent as interesting as others, but they do try and its still very enjoyable to watch.:thumbsup2

We love Teppan Edo, and eat there quite often. On a recent weekend trip, we dined at both restaurants on back to back nights, and Teppan definitely won out. If it's any help, I reviewed the experience here...:thumbsup2

I just read your review on Tokyo Dining. YIKES!!! What a horrible looking steak from Tokyo Dining! LOL! I'd be very disappointed.
You know, I laughed when I read that you cancelled Le Cellier for Teppan Edo....because I actually liked the steak at Teppan Edo far far better than the one at Le Cellier!! So i totally agree that you made a good choice there. :thumbsup2
