Teppan Edo...tell me why we should eat here.

Trying to pick new places to eat and people have suggested Trepanned Eco. We love Japanese steakhouses, but what makes this better? We heard they don't have fried rice...that's a bummer. The menu sounds good I just want to know what you experts think.

I don't think it'll be "better" than your typical japanese steakhouse. We enjoyed it, but it was no better (and actually it wasn't as good) as our favorite hibachi place at home.

But it's a fun environment for people who don't have a similar restaurant at home!

I would have to agree that I think our local hibachi restaurant is probably a little better. However, we did really enjoy our meal at Teppan Edo. It was a very nice, relaxing meal on our last full day.

The restaurant is nice, we've made it a tradition to go there. As the previous posters have said, it's your typical hibachi restaurant, so if you don't have access to one near your home - i imagine it's nice to have the option of going at Disney. They have the same corny jokes and stuff, food is pretty good. I like how your in individual rooms, if i remember correctly, there are 2-4 stove/tables in each room, so its a small dining environment.

Its in Epcot and if you don't have a local teppanyaki place its something special.

Otherwise it just costs more and you get less.

We love Teppan Edo! It's my Favorite place to eat at WDW. The food is really good and the chefs are entertaining. It's a must do everytime for us.

Our kids love Japan, and having the habachi dinner there capped off a great visit. But we also liked Via Napoli this time in Italy, and really enjoyed dinner in Germany last year.

Agreed with most posts. Standard hibachi restaurant, just priced higher and less food.

My mom and I used to go almost every trip. I hadn't been to Disney in 10 years since 2001 and just took my kids for their first trip this last August. I thought it would be an exciting experience for them. Bad idea... They did not enjoy the food and were minimally impressed with the chef show. Their ages at the time were just turning 6 and 8. The family next to us barely touched their food and they weren't on the DP.

Your local place is probably better. If you're on the DDP, you get just the entree, no soup/salad. As you said, there is no fried rice.

That said, we ate there once to try it and the food was good. We like trying new places, and that was a new-to-us Epcot place. Now that we tried it, we probably won't be going back anytime soon. It wasn't that we didn't like it. There are places in Epcot we like more, and we can get a better Japanese meal at less cost at home.

Have you looked at the menu for Tokyo Dining as well? I actually prefer that option - you can get a lot of the same foods cooked the same way as at Teppan Edo, just not tableside, plus a lot of other options besides. If you don't have a local teppanyaki place then the 'entertainment value' of Teppan Edo would make it worthwhile. Otherwise, I'd recommend Tokyo Dining.

We ate here in 2005, with (at that time) the 3 oldest (since the youngest were not born yet). They were 7, 5 and 3. They loved it! They loved the guy cooking right in front of you and tossing food up in the air etc.

It was on the request list to eat at this coming August. So we are booked.

We have nothing like it in our area, unless we want to travel some 50+ miles to get to one.

Thanks everyone, you helped us make our decision on this one. We are sure it is good and fun, but since we have a Japanese place very similar here at home that we love we'll pass for Disney. We want to eat some new places at Epcot that we can't get here. Thanks again!

Every trip I like to schedule one meal and ride/visit one attraction that I think is outside my comfort zone. Disney has tried to give us the world and it seems a pity not to take full advantage of it! Last trip it was Restaurant Marrakesh. I went with the full expectation of pushing the food around on my plate and then stopping by the bakery in France and using some snack credits for my 'real' dinner; I only made the ADR because it appealed to DH. And I had a couscous dish that I absolutely adored! I never would have known if we hadn't tried it.

We ate at Teppan Edo this past Sunday and it was very good. It had been a few years since we had been there and after our meal, I wondered why we waited so long to return. I had the combination - steak and chicken - and the steak was really good. So was the chicken, but I liked the steak better. The dipping sauces were all good. I also really enjoyed the noodles and vegetables. Someone at our table inquired about fried rice and the chef at our table said fried rice is Chinese and that was why it is not offered there!

Of course! You are vacation, now is the time to try something new and different. DH and I have eaten here and enjoyed it. Food is great and the atmosphere is fun. Go for it!

I thought the food was good, although servings are not really large. The chef was entertaining enough, but not particularly exceptional. I did think that it had a 'less friendly' feeling than most of the other Disney restaurants. Polite service, but not friendly. I might do it again but it's not a must-do.

I would recommend it over some other WS restaurants if you are going with kids.
