We just ate at Teppan Edo Tuesday night. I can't compare it to Teppanyaki because we never dined there.

We loved our experience but wish we had allowed ourselves more time. We had an Illuminations cruise scheduled that night and had to be at the YC marina by 8 so we had to rush our chef and ourselves.

First off, let me tell you there is a lot of bowing involved! There were at least 3 CMs greeting us at the door - lots of bowing. You checked in on the right side of the maitre'd desk - more bowing. We explained our situation to the CM at the desk and she assured us she would do everything possible to get us through. (We were told ADRs were running about 20 minutes behind). More bowing.

I did note there were some crabby people because there is no bar to wiat in and/or get a drink.

We waited on the long benches along the windows. I did check at the desk a second time to see how things were going since we were getting nervous about the timing. She would check - more bowing. We were finally seated about 15 minutes after our ADR. Bowing like crazy!!!

There were 7 of us so we had our own table. Our server was so sweet (she may have held the record for bowing!) and helped the kids with their chopsticks. We ordered drinks and looked over the menu. Three of us had shrimp, three had chicken and one had NY strip - all adult meals. My DH also ordered a garden salad with a sesame dressing which he said was very good.

Our chef was great ( he also did a fair amount of bowing) and I'm sure we would have enjoyed a much longer visit with him. He reminded us of a Japanes Emeril! He made the onion volcano and chopped up the veggies with flair! He also had a little juggling act with the salt and pepper mills.

The meal came with Udon noodles, onions, zucchini and mushrooms and he was very accommodating to those who preferred not to have mushrooms, in our case. Everyone loved the food - it was plenty but not too much. We were in too much of a hurry for dessert and no one was really hungry.

We rated this meal an A and will return when we have a more relaxed schedule. (ANd we will be practicing our bowing!)

My only complaint is that they did not accept the DDE card and at those prices, I could have used the 20 percent discount.

Thanks for the review.

Can I ask if the food is quite dry or do they add any sauces to it at all?

Thanks

This question is a little off the subject but is there a place that list where you can use the DDE

Enjoyed reading your review, thanks for posting.

No, the food was not dry. He did cook with some sauce and each diner received a little condiment tray with three sauces - each one paired to meat, chicken or seafood - but we mixed and matched. Everyone had their favorite!
From what I remember, there was a soy-ginger, hot mustard and a really yummy shrimp sauce. Lot of flavor and not dry at all!

Cool, I have been waiting for someone to post a review. I made reservations there for the beginning of December but I made those ressies when I thought it was still going to be Teppanyaki so I was a bit concerened when I heard they changed the restaurant. Thanks for the review, you've put my concerns to rest!

Thanks for the review - shame they don't take DDE but, from what I remember, Teppanyaki never did either :confused3

We ate at Tepan Edu last week, and yes, it is on the Dining Plan. They do restrict you from ordering double entrees (can't order steak & shrimp).

The food was great and the service was very gracious (like the original poster said, TONS of bowing). However, It did take more than 25 minutes to receive our drinks! - they took 15 to take our drink order) I was about to die of thirst! It was very frustrating to see 20 CMs standing around bowing while I wanted something to drink. They took our information down first for the DDP, before they took our drink order (but then needed the cards again at the end of the meal??? The ladies were all so nice. Hopefully, they improve the efficiency of their service. If they could speed things up a bit (while not rushing things too much), it would be wonderful.

Once everything started, the meal was wonderful. I had the fillet minion. It was perfect! The noodles/veggies were wonderful. My dfb had the regular steak... and wished he had the fillet. I also had no problems getting refills of my diet coke throughout the meal. I had the chocolate ginger cake for dessert... pretty good.

No - Fried rice was not an option :(

I would highly recommend Tepan Edu! I will say that it was the most authentic meal of the week.

Great! I just posted a question earlier today asking about the chocolate ginger cake. You say it was "pretty good". Why just pretty good? Could you describe it for me?

Thanks!

i plan to do an ADR for this and wondered if it is still suitable for kids age 6 and 4, i am hoping that the display the chef puts on cooking the food will keep them occupied enough throughout the meal

Yay! Glad to see a review. We eat there Saturday night!!! It sounds like we will all enjoy it!

Thanks for the review. We have a ADR on November 14th and I was a little concerned that my DBF wouldn't like it. If there is color or flavor he won't eat it but steak he will eat.

One question are the portions a good size? or on the small side?

Thanks again for the review:)

I ordered a double entree (chicken & steak) on the 25th without any problem. There was no mention to us of any restrictions.

We LOVED this meal! The kids are still talking about it. DS9 was eating all my steak, and I've never gotten him to eat steak before. Someone asked about the portions - plenty big. I don't think any of us finished everything (maybe DH did).

Thanks for the review. We loved Teppanyaki...and hopefully will love newer addition also!
