We just ate at Teppan Edo Tuesday night. I can't compare it to Teppanyaki because we never dined there.
We loved our experience but wish we had allowed ourselves more time. We had an Illuminations cruise scheduled that night and had to be at the YC marina by 8 so we had to rush our chef and ourselves.
First off, let me tell you there is a lot of bowing involved! There were at least 3 CMs greeting us at the door - lots of bowing. You checked in on the right side of the maitre'd desk - more bowing. We explained our situation to the CM at the desk and she assured us she would do everything possible to get us through. (We were told ADRs were running about 20 minutes behind). More bowing.
I did note there were some crabby people because there is no bar to wiat in and/or get a drink.
We waited on the long benches along the windows. I did check at the desk a second time to see how things were going since we were getting nervous about the timing. She would check - more bowing. We were finally seated about 15 minutes after our ADR. Bowing like crazy!!!
There were 7 of us so we had our own table. Our server was so sweet (she may have held the record for bowing!) and helped the kids with their chopsticks. We ordered drinks and looked over the menu. Three of us had shrimp, three had chicken and one had NY strip - all adult meals. My DH also ordered a garden salad with a sesame dressing which he said was very good.
Our chef was great ( he also did a fair amount of bowing) and I'm sure we would have enjoyed a much longer visit with him. He reminded us of a Japanes Emeril! He made the onion volcano and chopped up the veggies with flair! He also had a little juggling act with the salt and pepper mills.
The meal came with Udon noodles, onions, zucchini and mushrooms and he was very accommodating to those who preferred not to have mushrooms, in our case. Everyone loved the food - it was plenty but not too much. We were in too much of a hurry for dessert and no one was really hungry.
We rated this meal an A and will return when we have a more relaxed schedule. (ANd we will be practicing our bowing!)
My only complaint is that they did not accept the DDE card and at those prices, I could have used the 20 percent discount.
