DD17 and I are considering Teppan Edo but I'm concerned that since its just the 2 of us, we might feel out of place because of all the families. A few years ago we went to Mickey's Backyard BBQ and decided once there, that had we been there with a group/more family, we would have enjoyed it but since it was just the 2 of us (and we're both on the quiet side), we didn't really enjoy it. What about Teppan Edo -- do you think it would be the same?

We've never been to Teppan Edo (planning on going next trip), but we have dined just the two of us at local hibachi places, and never felt self-conscious. While you are seated around the table with others, you do not necessarily have to engage in conversation - you are basically watching the chefs put on a show and eating, so your entertainment is already built-in.

That said, we have, on occasion, engaged in conversation with others at the same table and it was fun. But you don't have to - it's up to you.

I would definitely try Teppan Edo - we have heard so many good things about it - can't wait to try it! :goodvibes

I know what you mean! We are 2 adults (no children) and have eaten at Teppan Edo a few times. We never felt out of place. There were times we have had better interaction than other guests, but we always had fun! The cast does a nice job of involving everyone. If you are really concerned, why not try Tokyo Dining? It is right next to Teppan Edo and has similar food.

Hope this helps.

The tables at Teppan Edo are for 8 people so you will be put with others. I guess the answer would be you make it the type of experience you want it to be. We have always had a great time and will be going back in Aug. We have been at tables where everyone talked to each other and we have had tables where everyone just kept to their own group. We go knowing that it is really good food and the chefs are fun to watch.

I don't think you'll feel out of place. My husband and I have eaten at Teppan Edo twice -- once as a couple, and once as a family of 4.

The tables are arranged in that traditional japanese steakhouse style with two seats on each end, and four across the "front" of the table. You and your daughter would likely be seated on a side. You will need to share the table with other parties, but it's no stranger doing it at WDW than it is doing it at a similar restaurant in your hometown.

When we were there as a couple, there was a couple seated on each "end" and a family of four across the front of the table. When we went as a family, we were seated on and end plus 2 seats on the "front" (We wrapped the corner.) We were seated with young women celebrating a bachelorette party. (They weren't wild though.)

My boyfriend and I ate at Teppan Edo and we never felt out of place. We actually just joined into conversation with most of the other people at the table so it was quite fun!

My Mom and I ate at Teppan Edo sometime last year. We never really felt out of place. I think there was even a man and his (I'm guessing) significant other there with him, so they were just a couple too.

I've been there with a friend, and I've been there alone.

There is no restaurant in WDW that I would eliminate as a choice only because I am not traveling with a family with children. I don't like character meals (I would if the food was better) but I don't think guests unaccompanied by a traditional family should be intimidated by them if they want to do them. The Backyard Barbecue is in fact so geared toward the children that I haven't ever tried it. I can get better food, and most people do that event because they want the character interaction for the kids. But if you are a party of adults and want some character interaction for yourself, go for it.
