My daughter is allergic to fish. I just realized that at Teppan Edo we will be seated with others who might order fish and it will be cooked on the very same grill as my dd's chicken. If I ask, will they cook her chicken in it's own little section away from the fish? Or would this be too much to ask? We leave in 4 days, I don't know if I cancelled we could get another ressie.

My DH is also allergic to fish and I was planning on doing that exact thing. I don't think it would be too much to ask, since they can put theirs off to the side. Have fun!!

I would make sure you mention it at check-in at the podium. As if the allergy is serious, if fish is ordered, even if cooked off to the side, the chef will still be using the same utensils to cook everything, IE the sides, meats and fish. So if they are separated on the grill, there could still be some cross contamination.

1) You can do this in Tokyo Dining, not Teppan Edo.
2) You cannot isolate cooking surfaces on the hibatchi.
. . . possibility of one entree "jumping" to other side of grill
. . . cooking oils migrate
. . . no way to absolutely clean a cast-iron surface from previous food

I would call Disney Dining and ask. My guess is that they could cook it back in the kitchen and bring it out.

I am allergic to mushrooms (not life-threatening, just break out into hives), and the chef at Teppan Edo cooked my food on the opposite side of the hibachi from the mushrooms. I was also concerned about cross-contamination, as I did not want to spend a good chunk of my vacation scratching myself, but I didn't have any issues. Then again, my allergy is not life-threatening...

Best to have the allergy noted on your ADR and confirm when you get there...worst thing that may happen is that your daughter's food will be cooked in the kitchen and brought out to her. She will still get to see the show...DS8 thought Teppan Edo was the best meal of our trip!

Have a great time!!!

Last month we were seated at a table with a gentleman with a seafood allergy. The manager came and discusses it with him. His food was prepared in the kitchen and brought out to him.

HTH!

She is awesome!
We've been to Disney twice with my son who has multiple food allergies and they take such good care of him.
They will probably prepare your child's meal in another area so that it will be safe.

In December we ate at Teppan Edo and sat next to a diner that had food allergies. The chef cooked all of her food first and then cooked everyone else's once her appetizer and main course were done so there was no cross contamination. He did consult with her before he got started.

I will say that our "show" was considerably shortened and we were very hungry and had to watch her eat first with all those yummy smells coming from the grill. I did feel bad for her because she knew that we were being held up by her allergies but I wouldn't have wanted her to have an allergy attack either.
