Teppan Edo and shellfish allergy?

Trying to figure out if I'm being too cautious. . .

We're taking the DGKs to WDW for Spring Break, will be our first "no parents vacation" with DGD9. She has peanut, tree nut and shellfish allergies. Having travelled previously with family with food allergies, I know first hand how excellently Disney manages those needs.

We've never eaten at Teppan Edo, but I know the DGKs would love the "show" part of the meal. But the common grill surface plus all the food flipping has me concerned about cross-contamination by other folks' shellfish to DGD's food. So I've been skipping this as a restaurant possibility.

Am I being a worry wort? Has anyone with shellfish allergies eaten at Teppan Edo, and how did it go?

It depends on how severe her shellfish allergy is- if it is airborne then I would not chance it. If it is simply a worry about cross contamination then put down she has an allergy on your reservation and she will have her food cooked on the allergy grill in the kitchen and brought out instead of getting food from the common grill. I would recommend this even if no one at the table is eating shellfish as they can't truly guarantee their is no trace from earlier cooking in the day. We have seen people eat their with shellfish allergies but would do this now that DH's all seafood allergy is getting much worse.

They will prepare her meal in the kitchen if necessary but if she cannot be in the same room with seafood being cooked, then you'll need to skip this restaurant.

We had a man that had food allergies at our table- I can't recall if it was nut or shellfish or both. Our chef and server both asked him how severe his allergy was, and gave him the option of either having his food cooked on the allergy grill in the kitchen, or on the table grill BEFORE anyone else's food was cooked. He said he was not that severe and was fine with it being cooked at the table if the surface had been cleaned. They cleaned the surface again and then his food was cooked at the table and given to him before anyone else's food was cooked. It was his party and our party at the table. We did not mind at all the extra wait while his food was cooked. The only issue for him was that everyone told him to go ahead and eat while it was hot and he was about done by the time the rest of us got our food.

As the PP has said- if her allergy is airborne I would not chance it. There is food flying there and there will be substances at the table that she will be allergic to. Also, I don't know how big your party is, but the tables are for 8 and they will seat families together like at most Hibachi grills- so you can't control what someone else orders. I am also with the PP that I would have her food cooked on the allergy grill and would not take the risk of it being cooked on the table surface. The guy at our table had absolutely no issues, but even if it is a small risk I wouldn't want to do anything to hurt the fun at Disney!

Similar situation to what ktlm reported. We were at the table with a family whose child has a treenut/peanut allergy. I can't remember if anything at Teppan Edo had peanuts or treenuts but I believe they swapped out the oil for an allergy friendly one. This was years ago and has never happened since.

We have mentioned Fiance's allergy to lobster and crab (not shrimp) before and since he is not airborne or even really cross contamination allergic they just cook the lobster last or on a different part of the grill then his food. We have never had an issue at Tappen Edo with that allergy and they are one of the few places that gets the fact he is not allergic to shrimp even though he is allergic to crab and lobster.

We just ate there and have no allergies but we were asked multiple times by waitress and chef about allergies. They seem very careful about this.
